A question about fertilization

If a female plant is fertilized does the entire plant go to seed? Or just that particular part of the plant (flower,branch,etc.) that had the contact with male pollen,etc. Still a newbie,still learning.

just where the pollen touches the buds...
you can put pollen in a bag and put the bags over a bud...
or you can "paint" it on with a small paint brush....
water deactivates pollen....
