I have a few questions for my new sprout! Check out the pics!

1) Color difference on stem between the "cotyledons". The stem on the top half above the second set of "cotyledons" is purple-greenish, while the lower half is not..why? [I think I have 2 sets of "cotyledons" because the first set of "cotyledons" didnt get enough light maybe?
2) I got a 30Watt "cool white" on it 20 hours, and 4 hours of complete darkness. Is this sufficient for its young vegetative growth? Or should I go 24-HOUR light cycle during vegetative stage?
3) How often & How much to water in your opinion?
4) How long to keep in the bowl I have it in?
The plant is in regular dirt from outside. I have a small, oscillating fan in the distance keeping a small breeze goin around it. I even talk to it sometimes because it wont argue with you and ppl say it helps the plant grow...
Any information/suggestions that I can get will help alot.
