Nute burn is the main complaint of MG.
Thats the prob right there. With time released nutes (Fox Farms sells them too) You can't flush it out. Flushing makes the nute burn worse.
If its a pH lock out, then adding he dolomite lime is key. Since its basically 7.0, yo cant add too much of it. I've added a 16oz solo cups worth to a gallon bucket of MG soil.
MG isn't that hard to work with.
Organic vs non organic? You saying that organic yields the most? The hydro camp (not just pot) will dispute you on that 10 fold and probably be right. Organic hydro nutes are only *just* coming into its own. and need after that to play catchup to the chemical
(keep in mind, that organic still gets broken down into elements, like chem is already for the roots to absorb)
I don't care what the hydro camp thinks, I know growing organic will yield better results. There are several organic hydro nutes (Umm, PureBlend Pro for example, which this site endorses the shit out of) that have been available for years, and there are countless organic growers who use them very successfully, I don't care if it is RELATIVELY new to the game. They've definately been around long enough for everyone to realize they work better. I am not saying that growing organically in soil will give you a higher yield than any other form of growing, I am saying that you will yield more, and grow much higher quality buds if you grow organically, soil or hydro. Sure hydro yields more than soil, that's a given, but organic hydro will yield even more than hydro alone. And what is it about the size of buds that makes everyone lose focus of what really matters? Taste and high my friends, that's what its all about. I don't care if a bud glows in the dark and is bigger than my left leg, all that matters is how it tastes and the quality of the high. There is no better way to improve on those two qualities than to grow organically. That is, unless you enjoy your buds tasting like Urea...
Oh, and you're right, nute burn is probably the most common complaint, not nute lock, but nute lock comes in a close second, and I never said nute lock was the leading complaint to begin with, just one of the leading ones. Maybe the fact that time release nutrient soil has a reputation for having problems like nute burn and lockout is a good reason not to use it, hmmmm... As a matter of fact, I believe that a reputation like that pretty much defines that type of soil as being harder to work with, make sense?
But all that aside, if you have to use mg soil than rock the fuck out. I've said it before and I'll say it again, growing pot kicks ass in general. I encourage anyone that has the desire to grow whether it's soil, coco, chem, hydro, outdoor, aero, whatever. Its a great hobby and there is nothing better than smoking your own medicine. If you have to grow with chemicals thats fine, chem pot is better than no pot.
