A Few Questions

As I'm waiting on my THC Bomb seeds to be delivered from Marijuana-seed.nl (to Jersey), I'm preparing and buying my supplies so I'm ready to start when they arrive. This forum has been incredibly helpful in describing just about everything, but I was still confused on a few key things. So I would like to ask just a few quick questions:

1 - Can soil be reused? I'll be purchasing a 24qt bag of Fox Farm Ocean Forest, and I'm planning on growing 2-4 plants, depending on how many girls I get. Good soil is expensive... so in several months when this grow is done, can all this soil be reused? Is there any reason not to reuse soil? I know Ocean Forest is made with bat guano and nutrients (or whatever they put in), and does this stuff get used up after growing in it? Or can I just dump the soil into a new pot and start growing again?

2 - I'm going to be starting off my babies in some 9oz paper cups, but what size pot should I transplant them into next? I'm trying to not have to buy too many pots, but I want the best for my babies. Can they go right from the paper cups to 2 gallon pots? Where do they go from there? 5 gallons? Can I just keep them in the 2 gallon pots for the entire time? The less things I have to buy the better. Also, 5 gallon pots would probably take up considerable floor space in my closet...

3 - Drainage. Should I get pots that have holes in the bottom, or get ones that don't drain at all? These will be growing in my closet, so if they drain, what should I have to catch the excess water? Saucers?

Thanks guys, so far you've already been an invaluable resource and I look forward to sharing my grow with you in the near future. Happy toking! :joint:

1.) No. It shouldn't be.

2.) Yes you can keep them in 2 gallons for their whole life.

3.) Yes you need pots with drainage at the bottom. Get saucers to put underneath them. When they get bigger and you they need more water, I bring them to the bath tub to drain before putting them under lights again, on their saucers. Never let them sit in water that's drained out of the pots.

Check out my grow and comment please. :)

Thought so. What if I'm adding my own nutrients for both vegging and flowering stages. Still need new soil? Cuz that shit's expensive -__-'

And what should I do with used soil? Dump it in the backyard?

Or... what if I found out a plant was male just after starting the flowering, tossed it, and popped in a new seed. The plant wouldn't have gone through the flowering stage, so would the soil be at all good? Or does soil that had anything growing in it need to be dumped?

No especially indoor in pots. Not only is the 'guts' sucked out of it ,it has a chance of gnats, mites re-occuring or setting in that old soil. If your going to the trouble to get nice seeds, get nice new soil, its not expensive.

Right on.

It kind of is expensive for good soil though, 12 quarts of Ocean Forest is $20, and that's the best price I could find (with free Amazon Prime 2-day shipping). I mean, it's not thaaaaaat expensive, but with all the other startup costs it kinda is.

Anyway, I've heard that Ocean Forest is too strong for seedlings, is that true? Should I just use generic America's Choice potting soil to start out my seeds?

well are you going organic or no? If u are not growing organic then you could start with miricle gro water control i used that and it worked great for me for the first week or so without adding any nutes. Im not sure if Ocean Forest is too strong for seedlings though i wouldnt think so. You could always mix ocean forest 50/50 with some other soil for half the nutes as long as you use soil w/o nutes to mix with. then swith over to full ocean forest when you re-pot.

Organic doesn't matter so much to me as price. I ended up just purchasing some Ocean Forest, and I already have some America's Choice soil that I'll split it with for my seedlings, just to be sure.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Repped up everyone who responded
