a few questions for atheists

I have been so curious these past few days thinking about how you guys do it.

How do you guys do it when you have jury duty and have to swear or when you have to be a witness at a court hearing and have to place you hand over the bible and say "i swear"? If you state that you are an atheist will that save you from having to do that or will it get you thrown out because of your lack of belief in God and we all know how religious courtrooms can be.

I just want to know, i aint being a dick like "the sativa high" who is always trying to fuck with believers, i would just like to know.:-P
From my understanding you don't have to swear on a bible. You have the right to affirm that you are telling the truth. You do not need to use the bible or say the word God. The court cannot throw you out because you are an atheist or do not have faith in the abrahamic religions. That goes against the first constitutional amendment; freedom from religion.

why is there religious writings on most legal buildings in america ?

Because America has been hijacked by religiously influenced politicians and America itself is 85% Christian, so when these slimy, greasy politicians get into office, a lot of them play the religion card and cater to their ignorant base, come up with religiously motivated legislation, then get it passed (especially in places like the Bible belt) without much resistance, then the cycle continues because they will likely run again and again while their base doesn't pay any attention to the actual issues, they just know he's a religious guy with good morals who believes in God... Take for instance Michelle Bachmann or Rick Perry.

And that ladies and gentlemen is where we're at. That's the state of the union. An ignorant nation filled with fat, selfish people, too self absorbed to care about the people our military drops bombs on, too shallow to appreciate anything that isn't domestic, and too proud of the things our ancestors did to feel any obligation to keep their spirits, ideas and concepts alive.

I agree with you most definitely.

America is filled with fat, self absorbed, and shallow people. People who will condone a mass murdering of innocent people because of their religion. People in this country are scared of their neighbor and don't mind their own business. A woman can't have an abortion with out ten people calling her a murderer. A man can't marry another man because people, who have never been gay, say that two men can't possibly love each other. People say that growing marijuana attracts crime, well so does that 70 inch flat screen TV that they hover around every night.

Multiple generations have drunk the religious kool-aid. All religions were 'created' by Ra (alien), or someone like him ~ 6000 years ago. Back then, it was the primary means of control, pretty much the same today for non-thinking sheeple. Now that said, I am confident there is an energy/entity who is in charge of this 3 dimensional duality paradigm we find ourselves in, but he/she/it could care less about being worshiped. This is a learning laboratory based on free-will, alas we have FREELY given our power away to religions, and politicians . All religions/politics are set up to get us to believe that they are the solution/help we need, when the answers lie within. Once we realize that we are all gods (and start treating each other like that), the dark forces will lose their power and control. Can we please get on with it?
