Altruism does exist, no doubt. However, it is the exception, not the rule. Extreme altruism goes against species survival. surely if it was a successful technique for longevity of species as a whole, the strong of the herd would fall back behind the slow and hamstrung when predators attack. We all know that is not what happens...
Not to say it doesn't have it's place in the Animal Kingdom. It just isn't in the majority, not by a long shot.
Which brings us back to why Capitalism matches human nature best. Not perfect, but best.
