Hey fdd, any tips to a new lampworker who has an assortment of rods and tubing but doesnt know really where to start? Mountain Glass Art sold me pretty much everything, the final bill at their shop was a tad over $3200 for everything so I know I have the right equip! :) Nortel Red Max, oxy/prop pre-mix and the blue bird xl for the kiln, the rest of the cash was all the tools, color sticks, etc etc etc etc..... Nothing too expensive, but a ton of glass assortments. Thanks man!

go here, ... http://www.talkglass.com/forum/index.php

buy this, ... http://www.amazon.com/Contemporary-Lampworking-Practical-Guide-Shaping/dp/0965897214

go to youtube and search "glassblowing". watch all the videos you can.

come here and hang out. check my friends list to see who is on. in the evenings you have a chance to watch up to 7 people working. we are all friendly and will answer any questions you may have, ... http://stickam.com/faded_glassworks

you can start a thread here and send me the link and i will answer any other questions you may have.

don't let ANYONE discourage you. people will be threatened by your work, it cuts into their profit. try to take their comments as compliments.

have fun with it. my biggest set back is my own fear of trying new things. push yourself.

ask your DR for a tube of "burn cream", you'll need it.

ventilation is VERY important. colored glass has a lot of metals in it that fume when burnt. you will need an exhaust fan in front of you to pull away this bad air. most people use an "attic fan". i got mine at home depot for 80 dollars. remove the thermostat and add a switch and you're good to blow.

and finally, once again, have FUN with it. try new things just to see what happens. then start a thread and post some pics. :bigjoint:
