A/C Unit Mod

Ok my tent is hot and i have good air movement but its just not enough. i found a cheap a/c unit but don't want to put it in the window next to my tent (would look odd from the outside there).

So what my plan is to put the ac unit outside the tent near the window then mod the front and run the cooled air through a hose into the tent.

Something like this only on the ac unit.
This is a stanley blower i modded i ran the intake to a hose over my plant and the exhaust runs to a diy carbon filter outside the tent.
Heres a link to my journal if u wanna see more https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/426801-300w-cfl-whitecastle-single-plant.html

Careful when doing that..The exhaust from that a/c unit can make you pretty ill from breathing it in. I believe it is what they call ozone? lol So take care of that too on the back end...The front end hose should work fine though, just make it as short as possible.

Hope that helps. Happy growing!

Oh, well thats good then cause ozone is an air scruber, i looked at getting an ozone emiter before building my own carbon filter, and the reviews were mixed on whether or not ozone is bad for you.

and good advice, a long hose would make the air warm up as it passed through the room

Well, I seriously don't recommend breathing ozone. It is undoubtedly bad for you. Whoever would say it is not bad for you to breathe in large amounts of ozone is a (excuse me) fucking idiot. Those a/c units don't vent outside for no reason my friend.

However, if you feel like it is worth the risk, go for it. I don't like telling people what to do. lol.

Hope everything works out for you! Take care, and Happy growing.

How big is your tent? Those portable A//c do work pretty well (if you can exhaust them properly). You can get. 10000 btu one at home depot for 300$. (I'll sell you mine for 225, only used 2 months. What's convenient about these is they come with a use attachment for exhaust about 6" diameter and maybe 5 foot long, with a vent kond of fastener that fist perfect in a window sill. Maybe 7" wide. You could either put it in your tent, or put it right next to the air inlet.

Only problem for some is that portable ac units vent hot air outside which in turn draws air in, and window units recirculate the room air. For me, a portable unit would blow out the CO2 I try to keep in the grow room.

Hmmm ok ok.... well i googled ozone and it can cause somethings if you breath too much of it? And nothing about a/c emitting ozone.
This whole thing started when i found an a/c unit online for $30. I should have bought it, ah well i'll keep looking and next time i find a cheap one i'll mod it and post the pics, i could use the a/c my tent runs pretty hot 34C
My tent is 3x3

Check it out

You're right Beansfranklin, I cannot find anything about it emitting ozone either. I got the information from an individual much smarter than myself so I made the idiotic mistake of presuming it was true without inquiry. Sorry for the bad info.

I could still imagine the air exhausting from the unit is bad for you, but nonetheless it is extremely hot so you want to vent it outdoors.
