Just got my grow room finished and i have some small strawberry haze plants im planning to put in there. My main concern is the temperature is running between 95 and 97 degrees which I feel is probably too hot. Im not sure of how much a plant can take but this seems crazy. i have two 60cfm fans, one for intake and one for exhaust. i also have a 20 inch box fan in my 3x3x5 foot tall space. i thought with 3 fans going it would be enough to keep it cool but thats not the case. The problem is that the main room my fans suck the air from and release into is fairly hot all the time, my plan is too go with a portable a/c unit but will this make the difference? I was told today by a friend to switch the bulb to a florescent light too cool it down. would that work? ive spent alot of money on this room already and it only seems to give me more and more problems Any cost efficient suggestions would be great.

could u post pics ?

if not post pics of something thats looks just like your grow room :)

and pls post pics of fans and what i am dealin with her....

They best way to get hot air out is to create a vacum...... close all holes except 2...

top goes the air in.... at the bottom it should blast out...

just like i did :D

Bud stops growing productivly at 85 degrees. i would invest in an AC or a cool tube, i run an AC and i pay about 16 Bucks more a month, and i havnt been over 75 all Year. and its 90 plus some days outside.

Cooling:
Pyrex bake around - $10-15
5inch to 4 inch duct-$3
stanley blower fan-$40
duct work-$10
elastomeric paint-$10
=$78

Lighting:
Lumatek 600w digital ballast: $190 inc shipping
600w hps bulb: $40
=$230

~$300... much better than $500 and btw BETTER results with this

btw I can get digital ballast MUCH cheaper than this... lumatek is just known to be a good brand.

I already have my room finished and Ive already purchased the lighting, its a 400hps. Techna your room looks proper with the a/s unit running right into it. Is that drawing air from outside or another room? Its possible to suck air from a room into a closet isnt it? If thats the case it might just be a better idea for me to get a regular a/c then to buy a portable air conditioner...

I just set up a fan to deflect the hot air from the AC out a vent in my room. The Whole room itself is about 80, the grow room sits at 70-75, outside its 85+ Works GREAT. Very comfortable.... AC ran me 100 Bucks.... You can probably find one cheaper too.. all you need is a 5000-6500 BTU AC or so. They run at 580w and runs about 12 hours a day..... Energy Saver mode =D 18 Bucks a month... And helps control Humidity, AC might sound expensive but i paid less for my AC then a cool tube and can do alot with it.

Good luck to you, GET THOSE TEMPS DOWN  :peace::peace:

for a reflector use a cut of scrap metal like aluminum flashing or anything really ... could be cardboard fix it around the top..

the thing that makes it reflect and fire resistant is the elastomeric 90% reflectivity paint.

as far as money goes

I'll build one for $30 and it will outperform one you buy for $300 guaranteed.

Buy a portable A.C unit..its like $160 at Home Depot..and will keep your plants HAPPYYYY...you can even put more H.I.D's in there..and the temps wont go above 80!!

AC, air cooled light, end of story. Good day. PS you dont know what expensive is.
If that was directed at me, I more than know what expensive is...expensive is not properly planning your grow room from A-Z then in the long run paying 3 times as much. Let's just say even though I am a diy'er I've dropped several thousand on projects I've worked on.

Yeah man..it sucks that this hobby is so expensive to get optimal results...buying all those H.I.D's,high powered fans, carbon scrubbers, and strain genetics sure adds up quick...its possible to spend thousands of dolars on your grow room, and still be lacking a "high tech"feel to it...I suggest poeple try their hand at mycology..it really is a cheap man's hobby..quick and easy too..get all your info on shroomery.org!!
