.85-.15-.10 Too Hot for Seed?

I've about settled on Baccto Premium potting soil for my first grow (combination outdoor / indoor grow) as it looks to be the best stuff I can get locally (no Fox Farm or any of the other brands people talk about).

I've heard people talk about "hot" nutes and want to make sure I start out right. I plan to not fertilize the first 3-4 weeks and then start a regiment of Botanicare Pure Pro. Do you think, though, that this soil would give me a good start?

I have been reading up on similar stuff lately and have that answer.

I dont see how it can kill your seeds imo; people have grown in much hotter mixes.
I like how they have added limestone..order it and give it a try seems like quality soil mix right there; just need to PH and adjust.

Local mixes can be some of the best, you might be lucky. Get some Worm Castings for that soil (For soil mix and watering tea) to help release N-P-K to plant; could add more per-lite to the mix and perfect it (15-25% to soil ratio).

Fox Farm OF is a little acidic for seedlings and people like to add lime into their mix, I couldnt find the real NPK factor, but from what I've read on how people mix it..it could very well be hotter then your current choice of soil from that standpoint.

Sorry if you know most of this stuff, but i just did some soil shopping so i'm spitting all of this out.

Not at all, brother. I appreciate all the advice very much. I've been studying a lot myself, but this will be my first grow, so I haven't had the application experience yet. Thanks for the feedback. One question: where is the best place to find worm castings? Is that something I should find at a local nursery, or are we talking online?

Where ever is cheaper. Can be found at a local nursery (higher price). E bay- find free shipping.

What are your plans through out the grow?
did you add anything to it? Are you going to.
