Well, in California a busy place like los angeles residential Edison rates are the worst
they are structured on tear levels (5 total) you start with a base (which is ridiculous),
then for each tier that you consume....the rate gets higher. And that ac unit how much
is that going to consume....220v@25 amps+ (more $). I would recommend a warehouse
with live in quarters where a commercial rate is "flat". Example: Commercial flat
rate .11 to .16 cents, Residential tier 5 rate .33+ cents (Yikes!) Next time you go
shopping at the hydro store get a catalog (usually are free) most have a section on
calculating electrical usage and find out what the rates are for your area. A solar
powered (grid tie) home or business will help supplement usage.
