8 in Centrifugal fans in attic ?

 I'm building an 8X8X8 flower room with 2 600w HPS lights with air cooled reflectors(eventually going to 4 ). My question is why not mount the 8 inch fans in the attic rather than inside the room ? I always see the fans inside the room & wonder why not hidden in the attic. Fans are rated at over 200 degrees & attic doesnt get quite that hot( 140ish).
Ive tried SEARCH . . .

Your situation may allow fans away from the grow room but others usually cannot run a bunch of ducting around the house. always remember those fans work best when Pulling the air, not pushing

i keep my fan on the inside of my tent just for cleanliness, zip up the tent, everythings contained , except somtimes... of course... the smell , :eyesmoke:

I have a room 8X8X8 that I am building just to flower in. I have built & insulated the walls also put up 1 piece vapor barrier wrap around 3 walls. I am venting thru the rooms ceiling & would think that putting 8 inch Valueline fans in the attic would quiet down my room & also make more grow area( way less ducting in room). Im looking for the positives & negatives. Right now , to get started, Im using 2 600w hps with 8 in air cooled xxxlmagnum reflectors. Passivly drawing air into grow room thru duct from a room in the house. Using 8 inch Valueline centrifugal fan to exhaust room thru ceiling into attic & out thru roof peak vent. That's the plan but could sure use help fine tuning . . .

ive got my fans in the attic, theres no negatives apart from if the duct runs are to long or if the ducting takes to many bends to get to the fan then it reduces the fans cfm,

Plus attic fans look normal to the outside world to keep your attic area from getting superhot and warping the structure over time :) Just remember what lots of people say, suck don't blow :D

Thank You all ! My room is in the garage so the fans would be above it. Putting the fans in the attic will shorten "the blow" considerably & allow more sucking from the fans. The summer heat is unbearable in my attic(above 140). I have everything ready to install, just making sure I build the best grow room possiblefrom the beginning.

I am going with the fan in the attic sucking thru the two reflectors being fed from house air or outside air in winter. I bought a 6500 window A/C & mounted it up near the ceiling so I can exhaust the heat from it out into the attic. On the inside of the room it will draw in aie from the top of the room & cool it. I can the duct it downwards. Good or bad ideas ? Heck im very open to suggestions...

Suck the air from inside your grow room through your hood, and put a carbon filter on the output side of your fan.

Edit: nevermind, that'll waste all the cooled ac'd air.

Thanx ! I keep running into that problem of losing a/c no matter what. One thing I can do is replace the room air with home air that is about 77 degrees or less(in most of the year). That would let the a/c work less. Another thought is to exhaust the room thru a "T" in the duct work between the reflector & where it exits the room using 8 inch valuline cen. fan. ??? Anyone ?

O.K Newest plan ! I have a 6500 btu ac at the top of the room so I can vent the exhaust from the back of it out of my garage thru the roof. 8 inch R8 ducting for passive air intake from the house with "Y" & valve so I can choose between attic air or house air. I also have same type of setup for cool air to the reflectors. Room & reflector 8 inch Valuline cent. fans to be mounted above the room in attic. Tentative plan is to duct air back into house possibly or just dump in attic or out thru roof venting.
Anyone have a comment or able to help fine tune the setup ? Remember I live in the desert, high temps, low humidity . . .
Thanx to all, Im learning an awful lot, just feels painfully slow !
