in the second picture posted (the closeup) it looks like a make pollen sack is forming. Zoom in on it a bit for a closer look. Definitely looks like a male plant in my humble opinion. Perhaps get some second opinions.

On the top side of the branch (toward the top of the pic) or the bottom?
That looks like a small leaf/side branch cluster or something to me, agree with GG I dont think its showing yet. Should be soon though if in US.

kind of in the middle. You could be right about it being a branch cluster or something. To me it just kind of looked like it could be a pollen sack forming. attached pic is a zoomed version of what i was focusing on. Defiantly hard to tell.

Yeah thats where I figured you were talking about, Id guess cluster but you're right, hard to tell. Only time will tell us.

If it isnt showing at that size/age, it is probably female. Most males show pretty early.
There are exceptions to the rule but more often than not males mature faster than the girls.... plants that is
