I want to order a light tonight. I found an hlg 550 v2 for 460 on ebay. Should I go with this one. Any input is appreciated.
Edit. 4x4 grow space

If its in good shape (I'd ask for usage hours personally) but if its for real, that wod be a great deal...those lights retail for $849 each..

With that much for an investment, I would be cautious, I always am with ebay - seen my husband buy too many "authentictic" ray bans

Oh man this thread is only gonna confuse you more. I’d diy with cobs because it comes out way cheaper and i’m really happy with my setup. Never used qbs but i‘ve only seen positive reviews. I’d go with a new unit in anycase. Leds, like other light sources, degrade over time. Good luck.

This one's only $60 over your budget.
I have looked at this one. The 700 mark is tops for now. I'm just tired of these cheap blurple lights

even after 50000 hrs they should be providing 80% of their original output. With proper cooling even more.
80% of output equals a 20 percent loss in yield I don't care how much bulbs cost your losing way more money at that point and from what I've heard these exposed LEDs like QB degrade faster than originally thought. I personally would just buy the HLG clones from Alibaba if that's the kinda light I wanted. I had some hlg v1 boards and I'm not sold on em. I am leaning toward the bar type led like the gavita 1700 or fluence, loriflux, growers choice roi680 but they are all a lil pricey, even though I recently saw a store I shop at had the growers choice ROI 680 for 850. I wanted to grab a few to try but I bought 8 more gavitas de hps instead as I know for a fact I can pull the numbers I need to stay afloat. They have bar type clones on Alibaba also that might be in your price range.

It would take close to 6 years of running a light 24/7 to hit 50,000 hours. The price is minimal when you think of it that way. With HID, CFL, etc. you need to replace them annually.

personally i diyed my light and very happy with it. 50000hrs means 11yrs of 12/12. In 11 years there will be more efficient lights i’m sure. I’m gonna stick with mine for at least 5-6 years. don’t really know how qbs degrade but i’d go with chinese knockoffs if it provides big savings with shipping included.
this is mine and it has been 1.5-2 years i think. I got 3-4 more years till 90%? Probably. I’m just gonna change the diodes in 3 years and hang it as it is.

I think for tent growing for personal use the hlg would make a great light, I'd personally look at some of the knockoffs on Alibaba I just saw one on @bigworm6969 Instagram and it looks to have more features for a better price than hlg.

I wish I could switch to led, for the heat reasons and who doesn't want a cheaper electric bill. But I don't want yield to go down especially considering it would cost me more than 12k to switch. I keep waiting for the one that will have the spread and penetration of a DE fixture but haven't found it yet, and anything that is even close cost 1300.
