7 days and still no sprout showing :(

I bought 14 seeds 5 fem Blue mystic 5 fem white castle and four reg big bud. I soaked them for about 36 hours till they cracked.
All cracked apart fro m1 big bud.

I planted the cracked seeds in expanded peat pellets. As this is a soil-less method I water them enough so they dont dry out, hopefully not drowning them.
I placed them all in a dark place and it has been 7 days and Notta

I have a few questions
1. Do planted seeds (before seedlings sprout) go in the dark or the light?
It has been kinda cold off and on in my room lately
Im hoping the growth was only stunted slightly form hte cold and it didnt kill them entirely
The room is staying at an optimum temperature now, but hopefully not too little too late.

I decided to dig up a few of the ones i care the least for just to see if they had grown at all. And well its been 7 days since planting and the seeds I checked only have one white root about 1/4-1/2 inch long coming from them, not many other signs of growth

Any thoughts? Is it reasonable that they still be alive but not sprouted after 7 days. Could the lower temperature only have stunned them?

It must of grown a little cause the root is longer than when i planted it, but still its been a week and every video ive seen people have stated 7 days till sprouting.

Thanks for any advice

you can't just plant a seed in hydrotron, you need to have it planted in something (peat pellet, rockwool cube, soil..) so that the seed is in contact with the moisture it needs to grow. You can soak hydrotron but then there are only contact points on a few spots the seed and the little taproot can draw what it needs to live....
sorry to be the bearer of bad news, I think your seeds are fucked. You could try and plant them still and see, but I'd lay my money on they're trashed.

when u say its been kind of cool in ur room how cold is it . Remember seeds need a Warm wet medium to grow, if its to cold they will sit stagnant in the medium. Seeds when germinated look for light so once through ur medium they need light, if u have lights on now make sure ungerminated seed is titally covered make it work to get to the light and never dig up the seeds afterplanted u can and probably did damage to their taproots . Good luck and just be patient hopefully they will sprout.

I think some lines got crossed somewhere. I am using peat pellets. I have two pics, one of before and one of after. Are these suitable?I was under the impression they were.

Any help would be great, Peace

oh and it shoudlnt have been below 40 for too long, few hours a day maybe at the start. the seeds i checked had pretty big tap roots, much bigger than when i planted them so i am guess the less than optimal heat slowed them down. The temp is now at a cosistant, never lower than 70 and never higher than 81

and dont worry I only dug out 2 of the seeds that were of lowest priority

supafreak its a matter of preference .Im sure some people use them and swear by them and others dont .I personally use rapid rooter plugs and have had great success with them . Like i said make sure the seed stays warm and moist at this point u dont want to overwater because if u do they will just rot.

you say you put them in a dark place? your seedlings need light... just like any plant. correct me if I'm wrong, but I guarantee that's your problem

The seedlings only need light once they are through the grow medium .

What? How would the plant know which way to grow etc.? It needs a light source so it knows to grow up towards the light and sprout.

you probably got them too deep.
you should plant them about 3 mm inside the peats.

if you put them too deep it will be harder for them to pop out (and most likely less will) and it will be longer than normal.

;'
The plant knows which way to grow because god made that part of the process of germination, and it has to do with gravity , as the seed starts to break down the starches stored inside and turn them into sugars the taproot shoots down and the shell goes upward.ive personally never heard of anyone complaining about their plant growing out of the bottom of their pots
