Ya see, this is what I get in response! I found the Private Message thread that I had with you, it was dated January 16.

In that thread, I told you no prizes, and you agreed that free advertising would not be good.

That was 2 weeks before you posted this thread! So since then you enlisted several companies to provide products to be given as prizes in exchange for free advertising on the largest grow forum on the net.

The members here say that you have already received the products, so now you want to give them as gifts. Do you consider that as honoring my request?

Can any of you understand why we don't allow something like this? If we did it would be a huge cluster fuck of companies posting their products here. Kind of like we already have with the seed banks giving away seeds to "Testers" if they will give them free advertising here.

Then you would be complaining about all of the spam! :lol:

Then setup proper advertising channels. The requests from venders have fallen on deaf ears. You guy's are ignoring a wad of bills bouncing off your face!

Green Gator was never promised Free Advertising by Frozen or any other Cup Winner. All we were asked is if we would like to give away a product to a winner in this competition. We agreed because we like to support the growing hydroponics community.

I will say that I have posted sales and specials here exclusive to the members at RIU but I always try to do it in a non annoying way. Frozen can tell you that i probably annoy him most always sending him a PM before i post something so as to make sure i do not offend anyone.

I would like to go on to say that if my presence here has offended anyone that I wholly apologize and it was not my intention to annoy or insult anyone with my presence.

All that being said. I still would very much like to give away the free filter bundle that we have set aside for this cup and i ask that RIU allow this cup to finish and then make an executive decision on the legality of further competitions. RIU did not have any issues with previous Grow Cups and with the history of 5 successfully finished competitions without any hurt feelings, it would be nice if you could allow this one to finish and then make your decision.

I for one would like to get back to the cup and see all the progress that everyone has made. Im not here for the drama, im here to encourage growers to show off their skills by growing crazy plants in 16oz plastic cups. This is perhaps some of the coolest stuff i get to see all year, and im missing all the awesome pics.

RIU you are going to do what you are going to do, and im sorry if you feel that any of us cup sponsors have done anything intentionally to anger the site. Some of us have been sponsoring these cups for years and have only now been told about the rules, and i neither blame the sponsors or the cup organizers. None of us really knew any of this untill now.

Now lets get back to growing.

I have received no prizes from these companies to give to anyone. The only thing that I have are promises.... Not one of these members that told you I already have these prizes in hand is me.... @The Gator Did you send me anything? NO! These companies honor their promises just fine, without involving me.
I told everyone of these companies that I can't offer "free advertising" on your site, as I am not an administrator, moderator, or operator here, only a regular member. That is actually why AREA-51 LED chose to stay out of this competition. There were a few companies who's main interest was purchasing ad space on RIU, and because they couldn't, they chose to remain on the sidelines. There was even one company who approached me and asked if they could donate something but remain nameless....
The only thing I have given them, is the chance to give back to a community that whole-heartedly supports them. I understand that you don't want a "clusterfuck" of companies spamming, but in my honest opinion this is different. This is companies who care about us growers, just showing US love.
I'm sorry for upsetting you to the point that you have had to take time out of your day to focus on me.

This is not advertising. I do not work for nor am i associated with MWS in any way. They have not coerced this review through a marketing ploy of any sort, nor have they provided me with any reimbursement for this review. I just want people to see that these guys are here to help. They are not spamming. Look at their post histories... @rollitup Or potroast or whoever this is upseting should watch the way this comp pans out and make their move then.
I think you should open the ad slots up to the highest bidder. Maybe you could make some serious money just auctioning ad slots on "the biggest cannabis forum on the internet".
I know domain names and webspace dont come that cheap.

Ill say this last thing, i came to Rollitup exclusively for THIS contest. I will support those who support me. I even would have paid an entry fee to do this.
Think about that @rollitup I came here willing, shit, half expectin to hand over my hard earned cash.
80 entrants at $10 each is $800 for your website or you, for doing jack shit. We'll say for sponsors, they have to put down $100 for "advertising", there's at least 7 sponsors. That already makes $1500 for you to do, again, Jack shit.
C'mon internets biggest pot forum, get on board with your users! We want this, do you see ONE post with people complaining about shameless company plugs?
Look for it, its not there. Count how many times us users have thanked FC, thanked RIU, and thanked all the gracious companies willing to give us something for nothing in return. There's dozens of those posts.
Do you consider @The Gator Asking his valued customers what their next model should be, spam? What about all the compliments to Frozen for his hard work? Is that spam?
We all see this as,
now that you know how big the pie is, you want the biggest piece. Even though you basically refused a piece in the beginning. I am pretty sure FC tagged you in the registration post to thank you. I even remember him saying that a mod would have to edit his initial post because it had wonky dates.
Either way, we appreciate it, I dont want to piss you off, just speak my mind.
I enjoy RIU but this is silly, and to top it all off the ONE user who IS spamming thiis thread,

I totally understand... in principle. But in reality, this is the SIXTH competition, and clearly it HASN'T turned into a clusterfuck of companies posting products. In my mind, that says that, despite the inclination to believe it would turn out otherwise, the competition has NOT had the negative ramifications that you would be preventing it in order to avoid. The competitions HAVE been happening, and companies AREN'T spamming their products. So if the reason to disallow the contests is to prevent companies from spamming, can't you see why that is a hard reason to swallow?
