630 DE CMH canopy distance?

Thanks for the replies. Its appreciated.
It will be for a flower tent only so would rather have more than recommended light in the 4 x 4 area

I thought the 315s would be better for a more even spread but the DE would have better penetration but I am worried about the head space needed but 24 inches isn't to bad.

I may be off on this but is seams the DE 630 lamps are kind of an abortion and your better with 2 315's weather in one hood or 2.
Maybe look into what @Rocket Soul mentioned above :peace:

Edit: I would stay with a hood that puts the lamps in the vertical orientation as that is apparently how the best lamps are designed to be ran (philips, Hortilux)

o well to late. I just ordered the hi par 630W DE CMH. I recon ill be pretty happy. Most who have or have had the setups, including reps seem to recommend the 630DE CMH over the dual 315 in a 4 x 4.

Summer I hope to be running the 550v3 QB, That is sounding awesome.

I get par readings just over 800 at center with my 630w dual bulb cmh. Better than 1k hps, runs cooler also, and I can use the Phillip's bulb for the whole veg and bloom without having to change spectrums. Gotta love these things

yeah i got 1000de pretty bright on 1000 setting where ya get ya par meter and how much only have lux meter reads about 70000 lux at a meter 50000 towards edges do you no how many lux lumens 800 par is

Actually found an app that works ok with the light sensor on galaxy phones. Might not be 100% accurate but it definitely helps.
I found a website that's did actual par meter testing with side by side comparisons put in chart form for 1k hps, 630w cmh, and I think the other one was 600w hps. It's pretty impressive. I can see of I bookmarked the site on my tablet later of youd like me to post the link. From what I remember, 630w cmh had better par readings all the way out to 5ft diameter coverage area by around 200 par over 1k hps. And the cri of 92 for cmh versus hps that came in around 65? With less heat than equivalent 1k hps?
Oh yeah, I like the cmh for sure. Dont know about using the Double ended cmh bulbs in ballasts not made FOR the cmh bulbs specifically, but my dual bulb under one hood does pretty well. Wish the aluminum hood was wider though so I could lower it. I'm stuck with having to keep it at least 2ft above canopy.
