600watts for early flower then 1000?

Hi everyone. I'm on my first grow getting ready to to switch to flower. I have a galaxy select a watt ballast (600 750 1000 1000 turbo) and magnum XXXL 8" air cooled hood in a 4x4x7 tent. Ive been vegging under 600w mh. I have both a 600w hps and 1000w hps bulbs. I'm wondering if it's feasible to use the 600 for a while and switch to the 1000 or should I just run the 1000 out of the gate? Would it be a better transition by using the 600 for awhile? If going straight to the 1000 am I wasting light while my canopy isn't full? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Here's a couple pics

I was under the impression more watts = more bud. Is this not always the case? I've read alot of things saying 600watts limits you to a pound and 1000 can get you closer to 2 obviously there's other variables that come into play also. I'm not expecting miracles my first run but want to get as much dankness as I can out of it.

I can definitely get closer to the plants also. The only thing stopping me is when I get closer the outer plants seem to get out of the footprint a little. But I have a good fan and with the 600 watt mh running I can hold my hand to the glass without it ever getting hot to the touch.

Just run 1000 watts out the gate for flower. Your plants are in beast mode right now. Well done. Tell us a bit about the garden. Best canopy of the year so far!!!!! Fuck it I'm going back to basics. Are you doing the KIS method or are you overcomplicating things to get that beauty canopy?

First try I don't really have a method yet honestly. I topped using uncle Ben's method at the second node using promix/Perlite and fox farm nutes I'm on day 45 from seed right now. Check out my journal https://www.rollitup.org/t/first-time-growing-hoping-things-go-well.940581/page-2#post-13573000 I'm still on the fence on a couple things. I planned on vegging for 8 weeks and I'm only in 6. I'd hate to wait and then run out of room during the flower stretch and I've read that the lights will only penetrate a couple of feet anyway. I'm also debating moving a couple outside before switching to flower to free up some space. There's alot to this stuff so many options....

Now that I looked up the kiss method I can give a better answer. In my head I'm over complicating the shit right out of it. But as for what I actually do with the plants I've kept it pretty simple. I give em a half strength feeding or two then some PhD water. I topped the girls once and just reach in and bend the branches down when I wake up and when I get out of work. I spin and rearrange them every couple days and give the area with smaller growth more light. That's really about it. I spend hours reading about all the different methods and things I should do but I always end up just doing some bending and admiring and then I zip it up and let em go.

looks great so far just have a plan for staking or netting them later on because they will get really top-heavy.

also pull out all the skinny little branches under the canopy 7-14 days in theyre a pain in the ass to trim and yield next to nothing
