600watt HPS owners---

Will I be able to cool my plants and digital ballast powered 600w HPS with a fan from a department store? I dont want to get an inline hood, also should i transfer my plants to the HPS or leave them to veg under the CFL's

No I own a 600w and it will still be hot as hell.
But it will cool it down a lil but not much.
The best way is to extract the heat from da reflector(if you have cooltube) or just keep it far enough that it doesn't burn plants( if no cooltube).

veg under cfl's as they can get closer. but all that fan would do is circulate the hot stale air that the HPS puts off.

I'm thinking about getting 600 watt hps..is heat a real problem as long as i keep the room pretty cool?

it's not a problem just just can't get it closer as a cooled light.
i can have all my lights 3-5 in. away from the tops of the plants. even closer but 3-5 is good for me.
You can tell when it's bad.

I've got the same basic setup, and believe me it's worth getting the vented reflector and some ducting with a small inline fan, cost is minimal and I dropped the heat 15-20 degrees

i got dat ballast but not that type of cooltube.

good buy, i have the same thing but the euro reflector that air cooable, I have have it with a 400w connected with ducting and 3 6 inch inline fans (the ones cheap from htg..39$ ones) it still gets pretty hot around 85 to 90.......so make sure you keep your light and your room cool

will this work to cool mine enough?

I know lol, but is a closet or cab. inside with AC? I'm tring to get an idea of your setup

nine by 12 foot ventilated closet, 15ft tall ceiling and AC unit runs from that room

it will proly work it wont be ice cold but it'll take most of da heat out.

Go for it......heat will not be an issue. Its a 600, hot yeah but keep good circulation and no prob. I run a 600w hps and 6 250w in my room with fans only and temps never get above 85
