600w Mh/Hps in a 3'x3'x6' Grow Tent?

I wanted to try to grow indoors....
i got a air cooled 600w hood and ballast off CL for trade...
now the thing is i don't have a big area....
a 3x3x6 grow tent is all that will fit....
I was going to use soil in 2 or 3 gallon grow bags
will the 600w be too much light?
would 9 plants be cool or should i stick to 6?
how hardcore of a duct fan will i need?
will i need two?

anyone want to help?

I would stick with 6 plants, but that's totally personal preference. The 600 won't be too much light! I use a 1k in a 4x4 and right now the plants have grown to about 8inches away from the hood with no burn! the top of the hood barely feels warm and I can hold my hand on the glass bottom as long as I want! The light and tent temps depend on how you set everything up. I ran ducting from the central air into the tent that I can run through the hood if it gets to warm, but right now Just keeping the house/bedroom at 70ish and running the fan through the hood it keeps it cool!

Your going to need at least a 6inch +300CFM's , I use a 400CFM 6inch with a 600w in a sun systems blockbuster hood, i have it all speed controlled for the hot/cold days.

As NOGUTS said its all about setting it up right.

a 600 will be fine in a 3x3 tent.

As for how many plants, since you have a square tent, it would behoove you to grow in a square formation.

you could grow 9 plants in a 3x3 formation,
16 plants in a 4x4 formation,
25 plants in a 5x5 formation, etc.

The more plants, the smaller you'd grow em.
If you do 4 plants in a 2x2, just remember that the 600w lamp can only penetrate so deep.

Personally, I'd run either 9 or 16 plants in a 3x3 or 4x4 square.

I'm about to try the same thing. Good to know that at least two people have pulled it off. are you planning to run the reflector and scrubber off separate fans, or just the one?

As far as the 600w, that's fine since it's air-cooled, you shouldn't have to worry about much heat. If it were me, I would go with six, but I like my plants with some meat on them, that space is way too small for me. But the golden rule of cannabis cultivation seems to be: do whatever works the best for you! So many people have advice that to me sounds foolish...Different strokes for different folks.
