What brand makes the most solid magnetic 600w ballast?
What good brands do you know of?

Hey Man, best advice i can give u is to hit up a brand Called 'LUMATEK' (beware chinese rip-offs) they offer a 5yr complete warranty, and they claim to use 30% less electricity, resulting in 30% less heat, and also it runs both MH & HPS lights. It has a boost switch that gives u an extra 10% that u can use with the HPS bulb. LUMATEK claim that the 600W Magnetic ballast will produce close to the same Lumens as older style Electronic Ballasts.

The only problem with digital ballasts is that once they blow they are garbage and with a magnetic you can often just replace a part and have it run good as new.

I don't understand why so many people are using digital ballasts. They are unreliable at best.

Ive used Sun System 10 ballasts for years without any issues whatsoever. I also have a used hydrofarm that must be 10+ years old, no problems with it either. So what I am getting at is that there are not many companies who manufacture the interenal ballast components so they are largely the same. Some newer ones have easy access doors to replace the capacitor, but that really doesnt seem neccessary. Just buy a new one with a warranty and youll be fine with any brand.
