600w HPS with 1000w electronic ballast issues

Hey everyone,

I would first like to say thanks for having me in the community. I just started setting up my grow and I'll have some pictures and details up soon! First I had a question for all the pros out there.

I bought 3 1000w fusion electronic ballasts and I'm planning on running 2 600w and 1 400w MH. Now my issue is that the ballast doesn't have a option to dim it down to 400 or 600. It only has options for 500, 750, and 1000. Will it damage my bulbs or burn my house down if I were to use these bulbs with this ballast at 1000w setting?

It will dramatically reduce the lifetime of the bulbs and will not do your ballast any favours. Also you wanna consider the cost of electricity surely if you're pumping more power into your lights that is not actually getting used cause the capacity of wattage of your lamp doesn't match the ballast you're gunna be losing on electricity aswell. Invest in some new bulbs imo goodluck dude!

Wow thank you man. I guess this guy at the hydro store lied to me cause he said "Yeah 600w will work great".

It says "500w, 750w, 1000w, 1100w (Fusion Drive) dimmable feature for full control of power" & " Multi-Wattage - Power different wattage lamps on the same ballast"

So it sounds like it would. If you don't trust your local hydro guy pick up the phone and call the ballast company, that simple.

Or take advice from a stranger on the internet.
