ok her is some pics of my mother cabinet. in your case i would swap the outside of intake maybe with a small fan insdtead of passive like i have.

here is the cab from outside, you can see the intake between the legs of the tripod.
mother1.jpg

here is a closer look from outside, should put a small fan here.

this is how it looks on the inside, bent down so no light comes in.

you might need more than 1 intake like this for your growtent. with fans instead of passive

good luck

dude thanks allot for the pics im gonna do just that

i just built my room last night, i used panda mylar , its about 2.5ft x 3ft x 8ft room (can make it longer and taller if needed)

my 6 plant 10 gallon tank fits perfect with about 4 inches space on all sides

i also built a cloning area next to the grow area for future cloning (when i buy lights and do a mother) it will go in there with the clones.

the space isnt that tall its maximum 39" height , is this enough height for mother plants?

1 more question, i used clear tape to tape some areas inside the grow room, is this bad? should i go over it with reflective tape or something? its not that much but just wondering

thanks every1 for all the help

ok i setup everything and during the day 11am-5pm its very hot. temp go from 70 lights off at 8 in the morning and then when i turned lights on temp went from 70 to 81 in just 1 hour and 30 min on.

the fan i turned it to high later in the day to see if i could push the temp down but it kept rising, it went up to 87 degrees.

at that point i turned the lights off.. temperature went down to 77 .

what is too hot to cause ANY problems? anyhow have an answer cause i read online allot of different numbers, people say 60-80 is ok

humidity of course dropped as temp went up... i do have a humidor and i turned it on max, but it didnt help that much only about 5% increase BUT the humidifier was outside and a intake fan (WHICH SUCKS BTW) pushing air in. i have 2 x 4" fans on the bottom of my grow room for intake but they are really weak.

oh yea... the hydrofarm 6" active air fan pushing hot air thru the lamp OUT the grow room, is going into the closet atmosphere and then the door of the closet is opened, and window is opened... but u think the closet itself is getting too hot cause of the fan blowing the air there and not enough cold air from the window going back in? cause the 2 crappy fans i got are the only things pushign air in the grow room and nothing pushing air in the closet just the wind

gets cooler here at around 5pm colder air coming in the window..

i think i am going to just do lights off when its the hottest time from 11am - 5pm. should help cause 87 seems very hot...
right now at 5:30 with lights off, fan on medium/low and intakes on high, humidifier on low, the temp is 75 and humidity 45% perfect im going to see if i can keep this stable the next hours of the night n see what i gotta adjust

humidity i hope i can get it up to 55 at least during vegging and then just turn it off for flowering which should be about 30-40%

if i add 6ft of ducting from the exhaust u see in the picture above and make the ducting go out the door of the closet, will the fan be able to push the hot air out 5-6 ft?

cause my closet is way too hot!!!

Go with a air cooled hood and get a 6" inline fan for it. I had a 1k watt in a 10x10 room and even with 3 big fans and a AC unit in my room it still got 90 degrees easy. Air cooled hoods are the way to go man
a 3x3 room i guess?

I run 2000w in a 4x8 area, cooltubes and A/C keep it under control...

^ if u didnt see the pic but i already got a cool tube dude.. i dont got a AC tho.. where you get yours? can those ones that walmart sell work good enough to cool down my closet is 7x4 and height i dont know like 12 ft goes up at an angle.

i dont want to cut thru any walls!

IDK where you buy your PC fans, but let me know please. Using a PC fan for a cool tube is very bad idea. They aren't ment to handle that much heat, nor can they push/pull enough air to do the job.
i strongly disagree, think about it. graphics cards are designed to opperated upto 95C i have no idea what that is in F but im damn sure thats higher than whats coming out of my exhausts. which btw i use two 120mm fans on my cooltube; one intake one exhaust been using for over 2 harvests no problem yet. oh and as for not enough cfm a minute most computer fans will do 150+cfm, ps been using these fans for about 3 harvests.

and for where to get them try newegg.com or if you have a fry's close to you go there. stick to good brands like thermaltake and look at the ratings on them. dont go to bestbuy their selection sucks more than their computer section (3 laptops)

oh and thi smay be an old thread but i wanted to clear that part up for anyone looking for fans to cool lights or use an exhaust.

btw im only using these fans right now temporarily till i can find a high end fan find a decent price

hells yeah, i have a 600w hps 4 inch ac running off my plenum and a 40cfm high velocity fan with a carbon filter on a timer every 15 mins. and mine stays around 74 i tend to go overboard to start with so its like my second grow but i have the easy cool 6 inch inline duct light

My grow closet is 5' x 6' x 8' high I know my closet will get hot and it does not have a AC unit. The room has a AC unit but this small walk in closet doesnt, so what I wanted to do since I live in the desert where the temps stay over 100 until Mid Oct. ANyways what I am going to do is take the AC duct from the room and some more duct and run it into the small walk in closet .. Sound like a good idea ? leave my house thermostat at 75 degrees all day ... any thoughts its cheaper and easier than buying a portable AC unit to cool the room...

Ac is the way to go I did the cool tube thing just does not cut it when you need to play god in your grow room and control the perfect environment indoors just saying

This is why I chose to stop growing in summer. You'd be surprised how much easier life is when the outer room is never above 70 and the closet, door open with hps on, is 76-77 tops. Of course you can accomplish the same thing with a lot of air conditioning. You can exchange air all you want, but you need a source of relatively cool air to circulate.
