600W closet advice

Hey guys,

My closet is 2.75/1.75/6 feet (lxwxd). Atm I have a 125W cfl in an air cooled hood and air temps are high 70's low 80's.

i have a 4" 265cfm fan extracting through the hood and by that I mean it is not a closed ventilating circuit, air is sucked from the closet through 4x1 inch holes in the side of the hood, over the light then out of the closet via a carbon filter.

I tried my 600W in there today and temps soared to 120f =(

So my question is, what would i have to do to get a 600w in there comfortably? I was thinking of buying a 6" cool tube and a 495cfm fan - would that work do you think?

Also would I be best keeping the cooltube a closed ventilation circuit, or would I be alright extracting from the room, over the light and out?

Thanks a lot for any help!

600 watts in that space!! You will definately need at least a 495 cfm fan. You will run into space issues if you are trying to fit a 495 cfm fan, 6 inch ducting, carbon filter, cooltube in 2.75 x 1.75 x 6. Closed ventillation seems more effective and introduces another fan to the equation. I strugled to cool a 400 watter in that space with a 450 cfm fan. I would go with a bigger closet or a lower wattage so I can focus on growing and not how i am gonna keep the room cool.

Great post man thanks a lot - nice pics too! I did not think of space issues, on top of what you already said I'm usin dwc so my rez takes up another foot and a bit of vertical space. I'm growin jack herer which can get very tall as well, though I do plan on toppin and supercroppin extensively.

I expect I'll have to get a 495cfm fan anyway to vent a 400W bulb so I can see if the 600 makes temps too high or not.

Cheers!
