600w bulb vs 1000w ballast Pleasse help!!

Just bought a 1000w ballast and a 1000w hps bulb. Unfortunately, this is too big and I should be using a 600w hps. So my question is can I put a 600w bulb into this 1000w ballast, like you can put a 50w bulb into a lamp that will take a 100w, is it same concept?

After all, I don't want to sunburn these girls..

Thanks for any and all responses.. Suite

No. You will fry the 600 watter because the ballast will allow 1000w of current to pass.Nice grow by the way..................

hi,yes, that's correct. You can not use 600w bulb to 1000w ballast, otherwise the 600w bulb will burn.Maybe you can try our 1000w dimmable ballast,it has 4 dimming selection:50%,60%,75%,100%.That means when you choose 60%,the output power will be 600w.
