600 watt hps question?

iv'e got a 600watt hps in a cabinet probably about 12 inchs away from my first white widow which is about 4 weeks into my first flowering process. my question is about how close is a good distance formy light to be away from my plant, thanks for your help.:hump:

buy a heat shield its well worth the money i have 2 on 2 600 watt hps and i have them both 10 inches away from 1 plant
