600 Watt homemade Air Cooled Hood - Please Help!

I made this hood the other day now when i mount my fan if i just mount it straight on the side of this thing is it could it posdibly melt from the heat of a 600watt hps, this is my only concern.

I have a back up plan but it would b much easier to just cut a hole in the side and screw the fan in..

i would guess that the bulb would be about 100mm away from the fan cover which is pvc

No offense but you should throw that in the garbage.

I know a grower who made his own hood.

It was a dedicated grow house, when he wasn't there it caught on fire and burned down.

Police found the plants and the trial by jury is in a few weeks.

That doesn't look like cardboard to me it looks like particle board or mdf, either way i don't really know about this idea, maybe if you put like 10 coats of fire retardant spray on it, it would be okay?
You could get a thermoiter and put the probe in there to figure out the temp and then compare with the combustion temperature of the material you are using, but pretty much i think a wood air cooled hood is just an all around bad idea lol L2cooltube, http://www.ebay.com/sch/Home-Garden-/11700/i.html?_nkw=cool+tube+reflector&_frs=1 .

No... bad. Lookup DIY cooltube if ur set on growing. But read a few books and check out the newborn section first.

Thanks for the replies, its not cardboard lol but yeh pretty poor idea, it is timber, probly best not to take that risk :)

LMAO. That thing is awesome!!

I do have one suggestion though, make the air intake wider and then take off the other end of the hood. Attach it in the basement window.

Then go on Craigslist and post an ad for "$20 private glory hole blow jobs, all welcome".

In a couple hours you will have the cash to buy a real fucking hood and in a couple months, you will have the weed to make you forget about all the stranger spunk you swallowed.

Not a super well thought out plan, I'm just brain storming here...

You have a *metal* hood sitting off to the side.. Why not just use that instead of building a potential hazard?
