6 plants in 1 tote?

Ok soooo at this point its just a thought. Ive been looking at my room and how the space is looking, thinking about how many plants Im going to have in there and how I will fit them in there and what size pots etc.
So I had the idea of taking a 65L tote and filling it up with coco. drilling some holes in the bottom first of course. and then transplanting 6 plants into that one tote! I know generally speaking the golden rule is "you only put 1 plant in one pot" BUT its a frickin TOTE, its big enough a small child could fit inside of it. 65 liters as I said. So thats about 11 liters per plant.

These plants would be getting only 2 weeks of veg from seed, so they wont have monster root systems. But I still thought it would be good to get some input.
Does marijuana choke out the roots of other marijuana plants? Could this actually be really good for the plants because each plant would be able to explore 65 liters of medium? What other problems could I run into?
What are your thoughts?

Give it a shot. I did something similar for my first grow. I ran in to other problems like heat/light instead of space.

Yeah I mean in theory should be good as like you said its a giant tote but say you have one of the plants that's roots are far more dominant then the others in there... It could easily grow out width ways and strangle the others. That would be my concern.

Sounds like a tight squeeze to me. (65L = @ 17 gallon.) I'm using two 132L (35gal) tubs with two plants each. I don't think it would have been good to cram 8 more plants in there.IMG_0267.jpgIMG_0262.jpg1205_week_2.jpg

There is no reason why you can't grow multiple plants in one large container.

The main thing is just to keep them far enough apart and/or train them so they don't compete for light, and so the roots don't compete for space.

The former is more of a problem than the latter. If two plants are really close to each other, then each one of them will end up stretching towards the light, and you end up with tall spindly plants.

I think six plants in 65 liters should be OK, again, so long as you understand that you're going to be growing relatively small plants with only 11 liters each.

Yes I know they will not be large plants. I am going to use a fast flowering stain and put them into flower immediately. I just realized I'm going to have to use feminized seeds to do this properly, or do it with female clones. Either way I think this will help simplify things when it comes time to water. It maxes out the amount of medium I can squeeze in my space as well. Thanks for the feedback. I suppose this is very much like what someone would do if they were growing outdoors, all the plants will share the same soil.

11 liters is only 2.9 gallons and I just had a plant 4 weeks into flower outgrow it's 3 gallon pot...so...I would put maybe 2 or 3 at the most, and only if you know they are females, because you can't pull one without upsetting the others...

hmmm alright, maybe 4 would work well, thats 16 litres a plant, so roughly 4 gallons. I wont use my roots excellerator(cause Im rootbound in 3 gallon pots with 1 foot plants right now!) and Ill put them into flower really early. Unfortunately I just ordered 20 regular seeds, so now I gotta scout out some feminized seeds to do this

I am a beginner too and I have 9 spots in my tote. I am not gonna use them all but I might just try to use 8. with my regular but I have some autofems too started so I think I messed up but I will try to figure it out.

I would do 4. Im currently have 6 in a very large tote and the two in the middle are over crowded and cant breach the canopy. They those two will not yield me shit, plus they might even herm from the stress. You will yeild more with 4 apossed to 6, unless you are not really going to veg them long or train them much. Here s my 6 in my diy aero totes. You are really only looking at 4 plants, the two in the middle do not have one single cola visable in this pic.20140908_222216.jpg 20140908_222216.jpg

Plus that is a 130 litre tote strictly for roots, it has a seperate res. In your case i would only do 2 plants. If you want more go bigger or use 2 seperate totes side by side with 2 plants in each.

Hoe log did you veg for and are they autoflowers? I have 4 autoflowers in there and 2 regular. I am switching the regular to a different tote in a couple of weeks. I took 1 out an transplanted it to soil to flower outside.

Can you Yes I do not like to for one reason, I don't like to keep all my eggs in one basket. If you have a problem you have a problem with ALL your plants, not just one.

No they are not autos. I vegged for about 4 weeks. Just dont wait too long to move one. My tub is like 1 six inch deep root ball. There is no way of separating mine.

How did that pan out for you, I bet your top dawgs in that tote killed the other ones by stealing all the nutrients right? I dug a monster hole once outdoors backfilled it wit bout 600 pounds of supersoil wit bone blood meal kelp etc laced wit awesome compost cow manure @20% , first year growing 13 years ago I thought I could put 4 of em in that hole u know what happend, I went back one day and 1 was towering half a foot or so above the other 3, wasn’t a week later I went back n the 3 were layed down dead asfuck and the big one tripled in size took off ended up filling the hole rite up it was close to 7 feet tall and me and my cousin couldn’t touch fingers when we wrapped both our arms around the plant, I cut it super early like September 12th er sumthin n it was a Holland’s hope from mr.nice seeds they don’t finish til first of October but I still harvested bout a quarter pound of super premature bud .. what a waste but I guess that’s what I get for being 14 years old and never cropped weed b4 as soon as the hairs were half red im pretty sure that’s when I cut it and the buds were pretty large but spongy at that time so it dried up into popcorn what a shame

Nvm I see now that it worked for you, but I don’t reccomend doing that at all. Ur gonna choke out roots by intermingling them together and it suffocates them, outdoors u couldn’t of pulled that off I don’t think , maybe two in a tote and that’s still silly af
