does anybody know if a 6 inch in line fan motor will get too hot and overheat sucking fresh air in through three sealed 600w hps lights, the fan is about a metre after the lights sucking the hot air and then blowing the hot fresh air about two metres in to the house.

i have another 6 inch fan that sucks fresh air in through a passive inlet through a carbon filter and out through a chimney.

i dont want the fan that sucks the warm air through the 600w lights going on fire on me because the motor gets too hot.

Use the fan, or fans, to push cooler fresh air through the filter instead of trying to pull it through. Heat and vibration are the main causes of mechanical failure in any application. Use bigger fans than necessary.

well i had two eight inch fans in my last grow room, i had one sucking in fresh air from a sealed window with spigot, and one sucking in the warm grow room air through a carbon filter and out through an eight inch window vent.

i did not have any lights with fans.
i only had normal light units.

well do you think it will be ok if i just use the 2 x 6 inch fans just now and change to eight inch fans after my first grow wth this room.

i have already spent a fortune on building a sealed room with double plaster board and 8 inches of insulation to stop the heat from penetrating my outer attic and roof tiles.
and all the equipment i had to buy to get a 50 plant room on the go.
including new attic flooring, moving all the attic plumbing for the cold water tank, and wires for the bedroom house lights etc which were housed in steel piping and sitting across the joists, i had to buy a new consumer unit and cut in to the electric main cable before my meter to steal electric power, but still paying for the house power.,
thelist is endless.

my room should be finished in the next couple of days and i plan on starting a 21 feminized seed grow on 1st september in time for a christmas pay out. then adding another three lights later to get a 50 plant grow going, under 6 x 600w lights.

well i dont want a house fire on my hands, that is all. i live in a cold climate and its nearly winter so heat should not be too much of an issue over the next three months of the first grow.

Go with what you have. Lay off the nutrients and we will be friends. But if possible set the fans where they PUSH the air through the hoods. Bearings wear faster when hot. Noisy bearings = noisy fans. Fans are better at pushing air than pulling by design. Work with them and not against them. Good luck. You're a thinker. You'll do great.

ok i will switch the fan to the other end of the light run to push air through it.

why leave off the nutrients though, then what do i feed them.

can you be more precise.

i use disease and pest free canna professional plus soil with only two weeks high nutrient feed built in for seedlings, the soil is empty of nutrients after two weeks so the rest of the grow is controlled by liquid nutrients. it is £17 a bag.

i could use canna professional soil which has enough nutrients to last a grow, it is cheaper at £10 a bag and uses maybe just a booster.
