Are these HPS bulbs like you would buy for a grow room or do they look different? Any help would be appreciated.

I see some on this link but it looks like they would have to be wired in. Is that right? I would love to find some that are just plug-n-play.

Search Results for security+lighting at The Home Depot
the Home Depot lights are FAR from plug and play... they are security, not grow... some serious DIY action will be required... also, they are not nearly as cheap as ordering them online.... also, they dont show spectrum specs like grow shops do.

hardly the best solution, but they do have them... and some of us live in such small places that the post master knows our address better than we do... so buying local has its value.

perhaps just sum advise haze.
i don't know your situation but i do know that although cfl's can produce great bud's.
their's nothing like a hps, im sure that was perhap's what 30-50buck's? for light's fixture's etc.
why not just go with a 150watt hps, which is quite affordable and what u want.at
High Tech Garden Supply
it's only 80buck's and will give u your bang for your buck.
just sum advise.good luck

i grew one plant with 3 150's right above it with 4 26 watters for side lighting (they could have been lots closer though). the plant ended up looking great even with my inexperience and considering it was hermi and wasted energy on seed. i think you could EASILY get away with 3 nice plants 6 150's. my advice is this, due to CFL's crappy light penetration you should flower a bit early. dont let the bugger get much over a foot tall before you flower, i plan on vegging about 6 weeks and checkin to see my height then on this crop. and keep the lights as close as you can to the plant to prevent stretching. stretching is the enemy of cfls. heres a pic of my plant, just cut about 36 hours into drying.

thats some nice bud u got there,i like cfls, low cost low external light(ie closet),great light penetration, just enough bud to smoke for a while.i like them,i got 1 125w 12000lumen bulb and it does just fine for a plant, great sublighting for other plants like basil, impatients, ect.

im goin to get some 75w cfls from lowes and add them wit the 125 to get monster bud, prob not till winter tho but ill b set up and wit other plants thrivin in the mean time

btw i got 1.5oz from lr2 wit the 1 125,pppl said it was the best they ever had,i got like 5g left for my bday blunt, then start everything in the winter again.

cfls do great,u just got to have enough of them, shop lights(t12) work but they make for a strechy plant

hids are out of the question all together, cfls make nice healthy plants that dont look sick like some hids i c,but all in all cfls make for nice clones too and keep ur plants looking like they come from out side in the natural lighting

gj on the plant, small and very compact and nice lookin:hump:

hmmm.....i actually wanted to get HID lighting at the time.. like i said home depot didnt have it so unfortunatley i rushed without thinkin and went withg cfl lighting. I was worried about buying lights from the local home depot..but at the same time im worried about lights being sent to my house from the internet. "what im going to end up doin is growing 3 top 44 plants with those 6 cfls

CFLs are decent if you know how to use them right if not and your buying alot and using more then what a grow light would cost to run then just buy a grow light
