I just went out to homedepot looking to buy a nice set of HID lights...but i couldnt find any. So i had to go with CFL....and the highest they had was 150watts unfort. So i ended up grabbing 6 of them because that was my only choice. The question i had is how many plants can i grow under those lights? And i cant provide any info. as far as what size room etc. because i havnt decided yet...so if somone could give me a rough guess of how many it would be appreciated.:joint::hump:

I've got two 84 watt cfls. I use them both at the same time but one is a veg bulb and the other a flowering bulbl but together the put out 8400 lumens. I've got one plant in a 3x4 foot closet and it seems to be doing great. I would say 2 or 3 for sure.

You will be able to grow CFLs, your going to need a large number to cover six plants, they must be close and cover the plants on all sides because the intensity is lacking.

If you want to grow 6 plants and you can make the scant investment, a t5 grow light is awesome and only about 100 bucks for a big one.

well first off i think your lights are 150w equivilent, dont use that number its probably actually 42w

that is not enough, you will need at least 3-6 of those lights per plant if you want a good sized bud

daaaaamn that sucks....i will probably make another trip for more of the 150's
Hey Haze how tall are you going to let your plants get before you flower them that would help me help you alot, you can do alot with 6 150W CFLs
and just because it only uses 42W of power just means your saving money, not only getting 42w of light. So give me somemore details and maybe i can help you, here are a few pics of what i got going on with 5 150w CFl's, 2 weeks into flowering and buds are looking great.

edit-just added another pic of my afghani that was in there but you couldnt see it cause the door.-pic to the right

Did you grow those afghans with cfl's 150w? And i just bought top 44 and supposley they only get about 2 feet tall at most. How would i put them into flowering with those cfl's? I have a red lizard light thats bright in all, could that do anything for me?

at Home Depot you can find smaller HID's (both HPS and MH) if you know where to look.... the term is "security lighting" ;)

Are these HPS bulbs like you would buy for a grow room or do they look different? Any help would be appreciated.

I see some on this link but it looks like they would have to be wired in. Is that right? I would love to find some that are just plug-n-play.
