I'm super into aquaculture. I haven't tried it yet but really want to. Are you going to grow some fish, or is it for outdoor... which is pretty cool as well.

My intentions are filling these tanks with 400 gal of water and using them to grow fish. Most likely, one will hold a fancy carp, one will hold Pacu.

My partner and I are starting up a whole sale nursery.. selling Natives and low water need plants and cacti. Agave are going to be our main plant.

So, it's kinda like a drain to waste aquaponic system.. plants are in 5050 mix of topsoil and compost.. We harvest rain with 2 30ft sections of galvanized steel gutters along a 76 ft house.. Those gutters feed rain water to rain barrels that will top off our stock tanks/fish. Then, we use the stock tanks with fish to irrigate our small nursery.

Since all plants have very low water needs.. we should be able to use just the fish water. So we use up a bit of water in the stock tank to irrigate a section of the nursery... then we top off the tank with stored rain water. All irrigation and water movement is powered by gravity.. Rain water collection sits the highest, rain storage below that, stock tanks below that, plants below that.. We got about 2 acres to play with. full sun

We have a well water source (will need some filtering) we can use during the dry summers. We also have the experience/ability to incorporate skippy filters if the fish are not doing well with the system. If we DO go skippy filter.. we can use the scrubber pads as nutrient spunges. Just take a dirty poop covered spunge, throw it in a bucket of water and fill it up... nutrient rich water. On a large scale.. we could throw in lots of scrubbers and fill a 55 gal drum, then drain it through the irrigation system.

It is out in the country.. I worry every wild animal within 2 miles will be coming by to see what's up.. we have wild boar here.

So, our goal is to use the fish water to irrigate the nursery.. harvest nutrients, irrigate plants, and then sell fancy fish. No edible. Just ornamental type fish.

When I go pick it up I'm going to make sure there isn't a Finshaggy in there, squatting..
