FLOOD LIGHT COMES WITH A 10,000 HOUR FLUORESCENT BULB!!!These Heavy Duty flood lights use FLUOREX Electronic Technology that produces more, higher-quality light per Watt.will provide powerful, white illumination where directed. The integrated photocell will prevent operation during daylight hours (this feature can be manually overridden). The housing will not rust and is weatherproof. Uses only 65 watts and has 6,825 total brightness lumens (or 4550 Photopic Lumens for those interested in grow light potential) !! This is the same as 500 Watts without the cost! Lights up a large 40x40 area and is energy star compliant. Easy to install, can be mounted on an eave, wall mounted, landscape or functions as a security light. The Fluorex light is the closest thing to natural sun light! SINCE THIS IS THE CLOSEST THING TO NATURAL SUN LIGHT...YOU COULD CONSIDER USING THIS FOR AN AQUARIUM?OR PLANTS? VERY USEFUL LIGHT!!

Thats a 65 watt light not a 500 watt. I wish people would stop doing that when talking about cfls.

Actually, The light actually does work(Great). It produces hardly any heat. I have my plants 3 inches from the top and I find myself having to move the lights up everyday. I keep my plants vegging under them 24/7 and the casing the light is in is never hot as hell. Oh and the light actually prouduces 500watts but only uses 65watts worth of energy. Its a big ass 12inch CFL. My mother got up to 4 feet in 3 1/2 months. I just ordered 2 more!!!

Same here, I blame the idiots for always comparing CFLs watts/lumen to standard incandescent watts/lumen.

The light is a 65w CFL, equivalent to a 500w incandescent.

But it looks kinda cool, I wouldn't mind trying it out depending on its price.

... I vaguely remember seeing that exact thing at Lowes a few days ago, I may pick one up.

or you could spend 32 dollars on a 150 watt hps and get 15500 lumens...it saves you money and you get more lumens.

all of these comments are great. Its like the number one thing that the marijuana "bible" talks about. Its about parr watts and lumen ratings per par watt. check it out, your 65 watt light is no where near a 500 watt hid. little late i know, i just literally read a paragraph talking about this...

65 watt with that many lumens? i would just stick with multiple cfls... i just recently had the dumb idea of using a 65 watt flood light on my plants, it was about 6 inches away. 2 hours later I came on to search the forums to see if it was a bad idea and everyone was saying no to flood lights. I go back to check on my budding plant and one leaf was burnt off and one side of the main cola was light brown... bad idea.
