500 dollar shopping spree need fresh perspective

Hey friends . I'm about to go to my local hydroponics store in a little bit and spend a little bit of money (anywhere from five hundred to eight hundred). As of right now I have a small grow room were i veg my plants I'm thinking of buying a tent for flowering So i can get a more perpetual grow going. If my original space was big enough i would divide it one side veg other flower. But i want to spend some money on a six hundred watt mh/hps conversion.
To cut to the chase should i spend the majority of my money on revamping my original space or Get a separate flower tent? I like the idea of more perpetual growing and mother room. Utility cost are no issue. Ive been thinking about this for so long ive twisted my brain in a knot. I'm trying to stick to my main rule k.i.s.s. but it's not so simple. I GOT GROWERS BLOCK! If thats a thing..

P.S.. I didnt even mention all these led light adds popping up. Those are cool but im afraid of them Because all I Know is HID. Also they seem like a lot of hype if anyone can suggest an led thats equal or stronger then a six hundred watt in a four by four tent..im open too any suggestions.

An equivalent led that is quality built is most likely out of your budget. I'm not sure which model it might be, but I'd stick with HID.

What is your current lighting situation? How's your flowering area? I'd go with whatever is your most limiting factor on yield is.

Just my take on it, one opinion based on what you're saying.
1) You have everything you need for vegging and flowering in the existing space.
2) You'd like to add some flowering space to go perpetual
3) You're familiar with HID setups

My recommendation:
a) Skip the trip to your local hydro store as you'll spend a lot more than buying online
b) Buy a 3x3x7' flowering tent ($150)
c) Buy an LEC Sun Systems 315w CMH (cheapest link, they have a 10% off everything sale, $440 @120v, $400 @240v)
d) Buy 1x 4" or 6" inline fan ($100-$150)

Assuming you have a carbon filter, move that to the flowering tent as it's not typically required in veg.
Using whatever method you're comfortable with in that space you should be able to pull 8-12 oz. per round depending on strain
This specific CMH setup is close to what you're already familiar with but these 315w bulbs can pretty well match a 600w hps for production. They're as efficient as high end LED's and produce just a little more heat than LED's (thereby the 7ft height in your tent, will easily dissipate any heat from these).

what is the size of the room u are working with ......u never gave it to us
what equipment do u have now
what Grow method are u going to fallow

as for using a tent system i am all for it i run 3 tents and one open space area for starting


as for a LED light comparable to a 600w HID here

the 600w is comparable to 1000w with 3 different bulbs .............this is the MAKER not a retailer so if u want prices u need to talk to someone (this is so much cheaper then getting from retail store u will be pissed off once u see) .........to get a price allow scripts from them and u will see a little contact box just email ....i used Kevin nice guy (they are in HK in china talk about what ever u want not going to come back on yah) u pay the cost of the light shipping customs and u get the same one selling in stores for cheaper

Hey thanks for the link.. just saw it so I will definatley give that a look. Im a little familiar with how this thing with china works with the middleman companys and the mark up for retail. I have heard mixed stories about leds ordered from china.
As far as current grow area i have a five by five room one side has a propagation rack that takes up a very small portion of the room. The rest of the room is equipped with six hundred watts of DIY HID but since i just moved ln i can only run about three hundred watts Without temps raising too high because the room is not properly vented yet. But my temps are fine plenty of air moving around. my plants do ok under the three hundred watts for vegging its also a good mother/clone room.
I guess my main problem is managing heat once i run full six hundred for flower in thiz room with out spendin All my money on inline fans and filters and shit i dont need.

that one is called the Matrix S u can check it out and see it in the stores (pissed me off when i sawl what they asked for it) ........i been using the matrix s lights now for 2 grows they work great .....i like the fact that u can daisy chain them so a large area the light is all controlled and timed by one system

as for temps on HID u need a cooltube that is a must .........the sheer fact that the air is moving so fast and directed like that it removes most of the heat before it can spread out in the room ......MH bulb is nothing the amount of IR heat makes it only 40% ......it is the HPS that is the killer it makes 70% IR heat

give me the size of your area so i can work out the Cubic Feet ........i will tell u what size/speed fan u need (if that does not help control the temp to what u need u are looking at getting a strong AC or moving to LED )

Thanks for all the help friends...Fortunately this isn't my first rodeo so i have a good idea of what I wanted from the get go. I will post pics after new flower tent gets here. and i can give my girls the tlc they deserve.

With a small amount of diy knowledge you could knock up a flower room out of timber and white plastic sheeting. Get yourself a couple of 600w omega light kits. They're super cheap and I can vouch for these til the cows come home. A 6-8 inch fan filter combo won't go a miss. Hempys are a cheap way to go if ur into hydro. Don't know about where you sit but the internet works wonders on a budget anywhere.

It is possible to set up a veg cab and flower room that is capable of yielding 1kg every 8 weeks for about £450.

While I do believe in supporting the local hydro stores I also hate seeing the terrible value for money we get when we buy from them. 1 pair of rope ratchets in my local is £12, go on eBay and I can get em for half that without even having to look around much.
