50$+ for a reg seed??

50 bucks for a bean? I mean it'd have to be from some legit breeder that consistently produced some fire. + Pretty stable genetics as far as phenos. But seeds are also hit or miss.
But for a cutting?
50 bucks would be a drop in the bucket if it outperformed current ones and was actually proven to.
Just as a point of reference, the ocean grown crew was selling clones at the high times cups for $100/ea. They sold out pretty fast.

The seeds those came from cost $10 and are fairly easy to get. But, you have sex them out and pheno hunt them.

Imo that'd be well worth buying a cutting if it were something you absolutely wanted.
Vs the time it'd actually take to do a proper pheno hunt.
On the other side of things it's pretty awesome when you have a girl that performs in some odd way that you like from seed.

Hmm, that brings up the question of, "What strain should I spend money on, at normal rates for a connoisseur grade strain".

Much Respect fo
This is in no particular order.

Bluecheese - Big Buddha: Great buzz profile of a strain with 25% THC potentials - long lasting buzz
Exodus Cheese #1 - Kaliman: Real deal Ex cheese. Still one of my favorite strains - another long laster
East Coast Sour Diesel (ECSD) - Dr. Greenthumb: The best ECSD build I've run. He say's he's got a 27% profile. I've seen over that with it
Ghost "cut" OG - Dr. Greenthumb: High flying Sativa high that soars along for hrs. Just enough Indica to keep your feet on the ground. Look for a plant (Pheno) that jumps up and grows taller then the others well faster. It will have longer stretched out leaves too. This is that holy grail pheno (in my book). I saw a cpl of folks call it the "Magic Carpet Ride" pheno at a show a few years back. I agree!
Super Silver Sour Diesel Haze - Connoisseur Genetic's: Suggested to me a cpl -o- years ago by a respected breeder/strain expert. I tried it, looking for ultra good pure Sativa's. I found it! You should have some good growing under your belt - not a beginner strain..
Long bloomer but, not like a Landrace. Well worth the try if you like sativa's and can follow their grow needs.

That would be my old school "Give these 5 a try" list.

Dr. Greenthumbs are $15 a bean and you get 10
The Blue cheese is $7.06 a bean per 10
Ex Cheese is $7.45 a bean per 10
SSSDH is in 11 REGULAR seeds at $7.00 per bean. This is getting harder to find and fems are gone as far as I know!

I always liked Kasey Jones as a breeder stock. Connoisseur still uses a Kasey in some of his work. I find some interesting things he's been doing..... I guess that's a suggestion to try a cpl of his strains....

Peace

Much Respect for this answer!! And we started at such bad way...I have grown blue cheese , but auto form from dinafem, it was such a pleasure to smoke it!! such sweet candy like taste and nice mellow indica high.. I really enjoy it.. I decided to try pow 33 from ch9/ seeds, yes I just shitted my self, but I will say :I' m wrong when I am..I took in consider Nl from seensi seed and M.o.b - T.h seeds. but pow33 will be my next grow..

You do know the right "guy and breeder" for Auto's! Never been a fan of auto's. Did like his Skywalker. I was surprised by the quality.

Still, not going back to any. I'll skip it when being asked to too.
as skip for growing or smoking?
I really dig dinafem as breeder, nothing flashy but it always deliver, and I haven't heard anything bad about them..

I was given a pack of ten Royal Queen diesel hybrid regular seeds in 2015. Seeds had been the biggest obstacle to reaching a quality perpetual grow. I decided to breed and it's been a game changer.
Yesterday I harvested a beautiful girl that was pollinated by a robust boy, and she bore 50 great looking seeds.
Don't kill all males. Make your room a stud farm. Build your own pheno

I'll skip growing auto's.....

Try Connoisseur Genetics - Bodhi - Dr. Greenthumb. Then you have all the little mom and pop/underground breeders, with crazy good lines.......

I'll never run out of photo strains that will crush the quality of auto's - That I want to try.
Including pvt things sent from members for me to try. I just got 2 strains sent to me that came directly as a result of this thread....

Starting a cpl of beans this coming week.....

There is not one ( 1 ) live growing plant or seed or cut that I would spend 50 dollars or more on. Not no, not hell no but FUCK NO!!! I make decent money , can afford any seeds I want and still believe suckers are born every day QUOTE.]

I have gladly paid over $50.00 for a cut. To me it's a bargain to get a proven cut. It saves time and one plant will give me at least $300.00 worth of buds plus endless clones. With seeds I'm not as quick on the draw, but I don't expect great genetics to be c.heap

I started a fckn war i see..My question is /was from the point of regilar grower who grows for himself, who just wanna smoke good weed,no breedind no crossing.. I understand that for breeeders some genetics is must have, but i think it all like pedigree dogs.. 25000$ show dog isnt any better than 250$ dog from plain ovner point of view.. I still searching my fav strain, coz all we have ever smoke until 2y ago was weed..we divide it does it make you high or not... Thank you guys for sharing your point of view.. PLUR !!
In my experience it's a bit of a gamble when buying any seeds and sometimes the expensive ones are no better than the bargain brands. But, you'll have to decide if your willing to take that gamble. The last pricey seeds I bought were not at all what I would call good, not even ok really lol. I'll do what I need to do to find that one that I say "hmmm now thats a keeper". As for the big dick, success thing. I have a little dick but it's cute ;). I have a chubby girlfriend but she treats me like a king, I drive a 10 year oldtruck but it's mint, came from the CBA ..... how ironic lol. I drink crown but any rye works if in a pinch. Am I successful? I guess I am, I'm happy and all my partners are still buddies but old (that's a miracle lol). I am a bit disappointed about my dick though :(. Glad you got the whole package Chem ;).

I can't say enough that trying his ghost is one of the things to "start" with in his stable.
10 beans for those and the chance of finding a "magic carpet ride pheno is real good in that 10...

ECSD, Chem #4, he's got good and not so. Every breeder does in his stuff. Hey, some folks dial it in and are quite happy with it.

Anyway, last word on paying up for something. If it's what "I" want or am looking for....I'll pay so I can have it....

Do what you need, to make you happy!

To those who attended the pig roast - harvest party last night.....Thanks for the great time! SO glad you could attend! A wonderful crowd of "like" minded people, enjoying life, food and fun...Together peacefully! I don't think I've ever saw so many people meeting and exchanging "#'s" and info, from differing parts of my life. You were all wonderful and on a lovely day and night. You all made it magic!

A special thanks for the "special" smarty!!!
That "wiper" was so CLEAN and Fresh! Thanks again! ;-) ;-) You know who you are.

Yes your right but I'm just putting it out there that not all expensive seeds are going to be top shelf, that's what this thread is about I think. Also I have learned that one man treasure is another's junk when it comes to strains. Price seems to be somewhat irrelevant in the retail seed market these days.

I don't find Greens prices as at all higher priced!

Not, like some things.... 5 big Ben's (or more) for 6 straight runs.....

a straight Rudy gives me an immediate ear pressured headache, slight but there. The hybrids were fun, I was looking for one that could tick my boxes, found some that were better, but that damned cbd headache jolt sucks. I feel the same when I smoke Harlequin, or any other high cbd/low thc brand that I've grown. I get its good for some, not for me. sick tummy, strange anxiety, yuck
