5 CFL, All Organic, Soil, Perpteual Grow

Since my account got deleted, I thought it was easier to just start a new thread for my grow.

So those who were following this perpetual grow before, these are the new pics.

3 weeks of flowering. I had to move some things around.

That's pretty far out. Is that a windsheild reflector I see?

Yes, it is made of mylar and was $3 bucks at Dollar General. This whole grow was mcgyvered as I am broke as fuck waiting for my disability to go through.

The black lamp came from an old turtle tank, the power strip I already had. Same with the trash can the big plant is in. The soil is straight top soil. The nutes are a 10/1 water/urine, every other day.

The seeds are all from bags, but picked out the best, biggest, blackest ones I could find.

The smaller plant in the pics is not taking the transplant well, and will probably not make it. The other 3 are going great, I am glad they are females.

The 4 cups are the new seeds that were germinated, but not sprouts as of this morning.

Flowering is soooo slow. Three days now, no visible difference, except maybe more of those little white "hairs."

When do the little buds actually start to appear? Rep to whoever can spare the min. to answer me.

it can be weeks sometimes before you see anything that resembles a bud, dude... then others show in a week. All depends on the plant.

It just seems like this is a slooow process. Veg was so much faster. lol.

Agreed. Flowering is the most painstakingly long phase of marijuana growing.....

I used a windshield reflector when I grew lowryder and some crosses in a dorm sized fridge.. Though, it doesnt reflect light as well as white paint.. I'm going to use it in a new grow, since the cabinet is brown particle board on the inside..

if you want to have your plant grow visibly faster, i've read that having more lights could help
if this isn't a possibility at the moment, moving the plant/light so the plant can get light to all sides and leaves might also help speed up the growth process

The seeds I germinated still have not sprouted green leaves yet, that is worrying me now too. lol.

This happened to me as well and I think I know why. My theory is that the seed was from parent plants who were best suited for a different climate than the one you have going. At least this is what I think was the case for 4 of my 7 germinated seeds. They germinated but never got more than a centimeter above ground (some never broke ground) before dying.

For example, my environment is more suited for Indica strains so maybe the 4 seeds that germinated but did not sprout were Sativa dominant strains who need a much warmer and dryer climate

I think I have mainly sativas growing right now. Maybe, the one not doing to hot is a indica.

I think the tallest two are sativa's. Real growth is starting to happen with the flowers/buds.

I started playing classical music a few hours a day just to see if it does anything. lol. You can see the radio in there.

I have work castings coming soon to make tea to fert with, I want to give them some extra umph while remaining organic.

Oh, the seedlings have finally sprouted.

they're looking good so far, man. maybe that's why you're not getting feedback
keep it up and I agree with the others: keep the lights a lil' closer, and/or split them into multiple light sources (to get better distribution of your precious lumens across the plant's bud sites)

but again, they're looking happy so you can leave it alone as well

I don't have room for more CFL's on the current power strip, I would have to add another powerstrip to the current one, and I do not know if that is safe.

The classical music thing has had no visible effect yet.

What should I expect soon? This is my first grow so I am doing this all on book knowledge not practical. lol.

how did the lowryder turn out? I heard mixed results with that strain. How exactly did you get the fixture for 5 CFL's? I want to try something similar but all I can find are fixtures that hold 2 bulbs and it needs to be hard wired. Wish I could find a rig that could hold 4-6 bulbs with one plug that I can plug into the wall.

I went to the hardware store and told them I want a light socket that plugs directly in to a wall outlet. They took me over and they had them there. They do not hold five at one, most are a y style connector. the base plugs in to your power strip, then you screw your lights in the v part of the y.

I then made sure they were secured with leather strapping (leather-working is a hobby). Then I just used more leather strapping to hold them up via metal self towards the top of the closet.

Very ghetto, but very efficient and cheap.
