4x8 or 2 4x4???

Curious. I have two 6” fans 440cfm and 2 315w cmh. I’m wondering would would be better for quality. 4x4 or 4x8. 5 plant maximum. Would a 2 plant long veg scrog be better for 2 4x4s or should I just use it in the 4x8. Seems 1 315 cmh per 4x4 works well. Wanted to hear some advice

One 4x8 will be easier to run IMO. Only reason to use two tents is so you can have them on a different cycle. Say one vegging while the other flowers. One 315 per 4x4 is really under lighting the space. A 3x3 is more suited to a 315. For a 4x4 I would look at the 630 watt DE CMH lights.

I haven't worked with a 315, only 630's and 1kW CMH. I have heard many say that a 600 watt HPS will out yield a 315 CMH in a 3x3. Using 315 watts to cover 16 sqft is less than 20 watts per square foot. Way underlit. yeah you can grow a plant but the yields will be terrible. With CMH you really want 35 - 40 watts per sqft in flowering. Even a 630 CMH (40 watts per sqft) failed to yield as much as a 1kW HPS when covering a 4x4 but it was a lot closer than I would have done with 20 watts per sqft.

Dude I would run two 4x4 one flower one veg, you would get higher yeilds with both lights in 4x8 but you're going to make it up by turning out more grows with two tents, be easy choice for me.

As renfro said, a 315 in a 4x4 is way underlit if you want to fill the tent. 315s will NOT cover a 4x4 space the outer edges will lack any intensity.

they will flower everything within 2.5x2.5 just about perfect tho.

I might start with a 4x4 using both 315's.

That way...By the end of my first grow I'd probably have a better handle on going forward with another 4x4.

I’ve used 1 315 in a 4x4 and 2 of them in a 4x4 as well. It was a good setup using two of them in there... however I feel a 4x8 would be better so I can mainline and spread them out and up the yield. Maybe I’d have to do 3 315w in a 4x8 because that would cover 3x9 feet is one covers a 3x3

Ya take that advice bro get more light in there, I'm running a 600w in each of my 4×4 tents and am getting mediocre yields. That being said I would buy 2 separate tent rather than an 8×4 just in case down the road you want two different light schedules, of course it wouldn't be that hard to put a divider up in an 8×4.

So would I just veg 2 plants that would fit the 4x4 and maybe use some fluros for that and then perpetually swap them into flower for the 2 315s?

My question is how would that be any better than say putting 4 plants into. A 4x4? Only benefit I see is a 60 day from seed veg. Can any one tell me the benefit of 1 tent veg 1 flower. I’m limited to 5 plants per med law

You can stagger your crop and fill the tents , having a harvest more regular.
If you get a problem in one, hermie pollination, bud rot, mites, pm, its easier to contain.

Better yet, the reason for having one veg tent and one flower tent is that trim jail will be only 1/2 as bad per flowering round. Trimming sucks!
