4x8 grow tent hydro setup

I'm looking into a 4x8 tent grow using deep water culture hydro and would appreciate suggestions. I don't want to just take the hydro shops word for it.

How many plants should I grow in this space?
Will I need a chiller for the reservoir?

Equipment so far:

8' wide x 4' deep x 6'7" tall Secret Jardin grow tent
2 - Quantum 1000w HPS/MH Dimmable Ballast
4'' vortex exhaust fan/Can Filter 33 (210CFM)
Day / Night fan speed controller
One circulation fan


Shared reservoir DWC hydro system. Example:



I want to grow Critical Mass, Berry Bomb and Crimea Blue. They are all indica dominant strains, so I don't see an issue with having shared nutrients.

Ur gonna need more fans to keep them 1k's cool.. are they air cooled? If so ur gonna need another inline fan just for them.. if not a cpl box fans blowin right on em should work. U should be able to easily fit 2 of those systems in ur tent.

You definitely need at least a 6inch fan and probably a bigger better cfm rated carbon filter, a separate fan to just take care of the lights would probably be a good idea, and i hope you have some place out side the room to dump the heat.

If you are using a 1000watt, you're gonna need a way to keep your nutes cool. (if you mean to put the res inside the tent.) When i did DWC in 5 gallon buckets, unless i used a water chiller, my res temp would get up to over 80 degrees. Using the set up in the picture, I'd put the res outside the tent. you still may need to get a chiller, depending on how much heat is int eh outside room. I just used a small tote and put the bucket in that, and filled around the bucket with water and placed frozen water bottles in it to temp the temp down. it always kept it a nice 68 degrees.

Side not about ventilation. So that I wouldn't damage my rental property, I went to the home depot and bought a replacement bedroom door, (only $1 Cut a couple of 6" holes, and i vent directly from my tent into the hallway. I have a 4x4 tent in a 15x12 room, but if i vent my warm air directly outside the tent, the heat lingers inside that back room, and even if i have my 435cfm going full out, There's no way i can even keep my temp below 80 degrees, and I'm only using a single 600watt.
