4x4 or 4x8?

so I wanna do a perpetual with 10 plants every 4 weeks.. they will be from seed, lighting will be 18/6 (idk if 20/4 is any better or any other lighting regiment?) I will have either 2 4x8s each with 3 600s or 4 4x4s each with 1 1k.. now my big question.. will I even be able to fit 10 blooming plants that had a 4 week veg in a 4x4? running strain that are 8 or 9 weeks..

and also would anyone suggest doing 4 600's.. cause I can invest in the raptor that has dual bulb and do 2 hoods with 2 600s in the 4x8s instead of 3 hoods with single 600s.

any tips and advice will be greatly appreciated.. I'm trying to plan this out as best as possible.. I do get trial and error is crucial to learning.. but I just don't wanna spend money foolishly..

Unless you are renting, I would build a room! Focus on getting a mini-split A/C if your S.Cali and then you can run whatever light you want... The portable A/C units SUCK and a 12,000 BTU portable runs almost as much energy as a nice 24,000btu mini-split. My 24,000 Gree Terra runs @ 1,600watts and my Ideal Air 12,000btu runs @ 1340watts. Plus, a tent really limits your ability to expand! I went from a 4x8 to a 8x24, do the math! I might use a tent for male plants and use a filter to keep pollen in check.

Go for 8x8 this will spare you alot of equipments ( Seperate fans, filter, dehumidiefiers etc..I have now 4x8 and waiting for some cash to upgrade to 8x8

6x 600w in 2 lines in cool tubes in 8x8

10 plants under each 3x 600w is PERFECT

I have veg tent that is150cmx90cm

I have at the moment 12 in this tent under 1x 400w MH and 1X 125w 6500k cfl

please check this to have an idea

https://www.rollitup.org/t/hst-lst-in-veg-flower.898884/

if 4x4 is enough to veg 10 plants for a month really depends on ur style

if you defoliate leafs, topped , suppercropped to slow them down and make the best of the space then YES it will be okay

if you just let them grow normally

Forget it ,4 plants in 4x4 for a month is the max you can veg

or they will start to streatch and fighting for light, have weak stems and higher risk for mold.

I would really go my self for 8x8 and seperate veg tent

all the best, success.

Why should you have 20 plants in the veg room in one time!!!

You will transfer 10 plants each 4 weeks under 1 line of 3x600w

The only draw back that ull need a drying tent and that is cheap..

I start from seeds my self, better root system than clones. Also cloning is complecated process ((for me)) rather than just dump the seed in coco or root it plugs with some water.

Here is my 12 plants after just 2 days from the previous pictures you saw in the link I have sent.

Am still defoliating and as you will see am starting to loose space while I still have alot of time to go

Even after really the stress I let them go through on almost daily basis

I have just relocated the 6 plants that was under the 400w to be under the cfl

As you can see there is a difference in how bushy they are than the ones that was under the cfl and now under the MH

Hope this helps

and yeah your right about 20 plants in veg I meant 20 plants in bloom. I'll have 10 plants at 4 weeks and another ten at 8 weeks.. given they might go a little longer or so.. trying to stick to strains with quick flowering times.. think that will be over crowded in the 4x8?

If you got ur self a fast strain. You could make it eaxctly in 8 weeks even if not you can tolerate a week or two more
Just let whats in the veg tent still vegging thats it

And yes 20 plants in 4x8 is crowded for me!!

I mean seriously you will even find guys who do 10 plants under 600w in 1m2

Then its more waight from the stems i believe but not the buds.

Also they start from clones and veg for aweek or few days then flip

10 plants in 4x8 or 20 in 8x8 is the best and Cant be better from my point of view in this space.

I think that the strain would have a lot to do with it! Is mold a problem in South Cali? I think that it has to rain a lot to have a real mold problem?

I got a clone from a buddy.. that he got from some shop or warehouse.. idek tbh, but it has powdery mildew.. I transplanted it the mold spread.. but I personally haven't had an issue with any mold.. so idk if it's really an issue here or if that plant was just in a bad environment..
