Starting a journal for documentation, reference, to ask questions and gain knowledge from the heads on here, and to share with yall because I love this shit. Feel free to let me know what yall think, ask questions, and criticize. I'm just trying to grow the best herb I can.

My first indoor grow, probably my 5th grow total. Last years outdoor was my first legal season and my real first attempt at growing the best plants I could, previous grows were gorilla grows and planting some seeds in a hidden spot to see what happens.. first time going with some bought seeds and not bagseed as well.

Set up:
4x4 ac infinity tent
600w double ended mh/hps air cooled
6 inch inline fan with carbon filter

Soil:
10 gallons sphagnum peat miss
5 gal ewc
5 gal big rootz organic
10 gallons volcanic rock and clay pebbles
1 gallon biochar
Dr earth Homegrown 1/2c per 5 gal= 3 cups
Dr earth flower girl 1/4c

Seeds:
Cannarado - apple infusion
Csi- mendo purple urkle
Humbolt seed co - lemmongrass
GHS- chemical bride
Tangidos #8 - this one is a seed I found from a dispensary 1/2oz, only seed in there and thay was some of my favorite smoke I've ever had. Not sure it it was a chance pollination or a self. This is the only seed that is not feminized or unknown.

Started seeds on Jan 13th in FFHF.

All seeds broke the surface on the third day. The were in the happy frog for about a week and a half then I transplanted into 4 gal pots filled with my mix.

The lemmongrass has been a runt from the beginning but I honestly think it was my fault. I got to antsy with getting all of the seed hull matter off the coyteldons so they could get light but I should have just let the plant to its thing. That plant has been so damn sensitive to light up until about a week ago. She has finally gotten her legs under her.

Once my mixed soil make it into the room the gnats started coming up. I mixed this soil in the summer outside and there's just not much you can do to keep them out of your stuff... after about a week I watered then topdressed with DE and a little more mix on top hoping to kill the rest coming out and put up a bunch of fly paper and such. Tool a bit but I haven't seen any new ones for the past week or so. They haven't seemed to bother the plants but they are annoying and so is fly paper.

And here we are today just over a month old. At this point you can practically watch these babies grow by the hour they are really hitting their stride. All plants have been topped once and the chemical bride has been topped twice. Chemical bride and apple infusion have been the most vigorous I have been pinning down the tops on them daily. So far it has been tap water that's been left out a day only.

Front 2 tangigos and mendo purple urkle, center apple infusion, back chemical bride and lemmongrass. The tangidos is definitely expressing the most sativa traits which makes sense its just cool to see how each of these plants are so different. I can also see the merit in running a single cultivar to maximize yeild for those genes. Running multiple strains you kind of have to compromise and find a happy medium for all.

Did some rearranging and spreading tops out, finally able to do some lst on the lemmongrass.

I see the first signs of preflower and its on the tangidos#8 the only seed that wasn't feminized. I kind of think it look like the beginning of a ball sack but I'm sure it's too early to tell. Very round. What do yall think. Male or too early?

Did some maintenance today. Removed some of the bottom fan leaves and new shoots that were getting blocked out by the canopy anyways. The plants had some much going on down low the air wasn't moving threw them very good just kind of beating on the plant. The knuckles swelling on the nodes were driving some of the fan leaves into the dirt anyways. Removed the tie downs I had lsting the branches horizontally I'm going to let them start growing up. The plants seems to be happy with the improved airflow. I'm thinking I'll flip the beginning of next week.

Tomorrow will be the first day of 12/12. Striped some more lower growth of the chemical bride and the apple infusion. The lemongrass has pretty much caught up with the mendo. Hope I didn't flip too early, my first indoor grow so I really have no idea how to predict the stretch but they are filling up the canopy space nicely.

Day 4 of 12/12, plants growing a few inches everyday. The tangidos#8 turned out to be male. Shame because the stem rub on it is straight orange Creamsicle. Probably just as well though as the 4 remaining plants are filling in nicely. Supercropped the apple infusion this morning to try and give give other a chance to catch up. That plant has been vigorous as hell, fingers smelled like skunky crabapple after messing with her.

4 remaining plants are now showing female preflowers. I defoliated a bit just taking the inward facing large fan leaves to try to have more light penetrating to the potential budsites.

Coming up on one week of 12/12. I topdressed right before I flipped which I probably didnt need to as they were perfectly happy and growing I think there getting a tad bit too much nitrogen but they seem to still be pretty happy and growing vigorously. The apple infusion bottom right just got watered so the leaves are drooping a bit but even when she's praying there are some tips that have a slight claw, not sure if it's windsurf from before I moved the fan to above the canopy.

What do yall think? Any concerns?

Had some issues with herms in the lower larfy scrub on every plant, cut them out and opend up the bottom 3rd of every plant for better airflow. I think it was a combination of some less than ideal practices on my part and possibly the higher content of humic acids in my soil mix due to the Homegrown and flower girl. I will use amendments without humic acid next time and see what happens. Other than that the plants are back on track and the buds are looking great, at least to me. These are by far the best plants I've grown even with the herm issues. Each plant had very unique terp profile. The lemongrass smells like straight up lemon drop candy. Chemical bride is probably the mildest smell but a smooth creamy smell with chem on the back. The mendo purple urkle very berry incense smell. The apple infusion has such a sour smell its hard to describe very sour with a hint of earthy chem. Here's some frost shots at ~3w flower.
