Well thank you just the same bro!
Nice stalk porn, can you get a pic with something to show the size (lighters work well)?
The top of your medium looks a bit dry. Are they about due for water?
good eye duck, i just so happened to water them a few minutes ago. snapped some more stalk porn while i was up there too.

and check out this limited edition case i picked up for my phone the other day.

btw, see how one stalk is receiving more light than the other? the branches have been growing that way since germination, but now i am starting to notice something intriguing. the plant getting more light on it's branch is noticeably larger than the other. just thought i'd make a note of that as a reference for next grow.

Looking good and a good observation. Notice how the branches spread more which allows the extra light in?

It's just how the plant is growing. It's a growth trait. The important thing to note is that the plant the is more spread out is growing better because it probably has a larger canopy. With the sun a two leaves a foot apart on the plant get pretty mush equal light intensity if there is no shading because the sun is really far away so little changes in distance have almost no effect. Indoors that's not the case so you want to make sure you get every bit you can.
Good job making observations about your plants.

How tall are you going to grow these? I would really think about hacking off their lower branches. Or at the VERY least, cut most of the lateral branches coming off of them. When you flower in the scrog, all those interior little branches are going to create a bunch of larf and reduce the size of your main colas.

Just saying

I personally cut everything off below like 12"-16" below canopy because it's just going in the hash pile anyway and I'd rather get an extra gram on my colas than 2 grams of crap and I don't believe that it reduces yield so it's really a win win. I'm not sure exactly where would be best with pruning for a scrog so I'll leave that to the folks that do them.

you keep the leaves for hash? i don't think it'll reduce yield either. i think we are just redistributing auxins.

things got a little out of hand around here, so i think i'll be holding off on the trip and keep my effort towards staying focused. i'm patient so no worries.

No I meant if you didn't remove it it would be popcorn that wouldn't be worth trimming and thus end up in the hash pile.

You'd have carpal tunnel issues if you didn't with your grow :) I find the minimum size to escape the hash pile increases the longer I've been trimming.

had me rolling on the floor. lol. by the end you are throwing 3g buds into the hash pile. hahahaha.

I've never had to do more than a pound in a sitting and that results in 1g buds in the hash pile. 3g into the hash pile has to be a big harvest of nice fucking colas.
Looks liek we're even on the rolling on the floor. My wife asked what was so funny...

It's crazy what you will end up just grinding up into the hash pile. I just got through about 7lbs and looking at another over the next couple days. There is weed and leaves and twigs in every book and cranny of my house. I will say the bonzai Heros are my personal fucking savior. There are at least twice as fast, more like 3x as fast. Plus they will just turn lard into dust in no time.

Back to the point.. Trimming the understory does NOT reduce yield at all. It increase yield ..usable yield by quite a bit. The reason is that plants are merely balancing production with utilization. The understory ieant price shit for carbs..hello..in the shade...the electric shade. But the plant will out energy into trying to mature those buds. But they won't ever mature or bulk up, that energy could have gone into the upper colas. It's a balancing game that is only learned through time. I had an absolutely banger fucking harvest this run. Unbelievable really. Partly because I harvested all the tops and let the 2nd layer mature. I just had time to do this because I slacked in next round veg

Any way..about the redistribution of auxins. Auxins are produced in the growing tips in the top of the plant. They ACT or inhibit the lower branches. If you chop the tops (like I did) then there will be a reduction in auxins and flush if growth from te second tier. Chopping the understory does not affect auxin production.

The devil (and the results) are in the details. :)

so you harvested the tops and let the rest keep flowering? for how long?

thank you for the auxin explanation, makes sense.

not a plant update, but i'm in fucking love...
