This method is one of the best methods of yielding more per plant and since most states that I know of along with the feds sentences go by number of plants unless they can get more weight by drying and weighing the bud. Well these methods of yielding more per plant rather than growing numbers will keep your offense level much lower during the grow if you get caught. If you grow 6 plants with this method and yielded the same amount as if you grew 12 plants then under the federal law you would only get charged with 100 grams per plant which would be 6 oz vs. 12oz. Well this is true unless the plants seized weight more than the 100g per plant dry. You can see if both the grows yield the same amount the person growing the 12 plants will be charged for 1200 grams for his garden from start all the way till his plants would weigh more if dried and weighed. The person growing 6 plants only gets charged with 600 grams until the point his garden weighs more than when dried. The other thing is a lot of law enforcement will just count the plants rather than going through the trouble of drying the plants and weighing them. Of course your growing plants that yield over 10 ounces that likely hood goes down quite a bit :) Well the difference in offense level from 600 grams to 1200 grams is 2 points difference in the federal sentencing guidelines (level 8 for 6 plants), (level 10 for 12 plants) well those 2 points just raised your sentence from (0-6 months) to (6 months to 1 year). And the offense levels keep rising with amount of plants. Hope this helps you chose the right amount to grow.

^ Nicely put... Anybody have experience w/ how harsh the law is on first time offenders? If it says my maximum sentence will be a felony 5 years, what do you think I would really get w/ a clean record and a great attorney? A chance of probation? Def going the scrog route thanks to these kind of journals, keep up the good work.

I can only tell you about the federal law since I don't know what state you live in, but with the feds you are sentenced based on the federal sentencing guidelines this means that if your offense level say 0 to 6 months the judge will use that recommendation when sentencing, but if you are a first time offender expect to get closer to the minimum. Once you reach 100 plants or 100 kilograms of marijuana you fall under the first mandatory minimum category and that means the judge must give you at least the mandatory minimum of 5 years. If caught growing over a 1000 or more plants then you get at least 10 years.

Fiming.... Would love to hear more about what this is.

I tried topping on all but one of my plants this scrog around and regretted having not topped the one, as Instead of two main shoots going in two directions, i had only one, leaving a bit of a hole. Topping definitely worked out well, but I would love to hear more about fiming.

Hey nsw.
Nice macro shots.
I just did a small grow using baskets without air pumps or sponges and the result was about half of the size and quality when i used the pump and sponge but still slightly better than normal pots.

So its definitely making a lot of difference to yield and quality(IMO)from pumping air directly underneath the main root ball.
Anyway best of luck with getting your old drive back online hope to see the pics soon:weed:

Hey Natmoon, I was curious to what size pumps you are using for your baskets? This is a question also for you Nowstopwhining. I have loved the idea and watching these grows using them and I have a setup waiting for when and if my PPP will survive and grow bigger.

the screen is anything that can hold down branches to create a single level of buds. I use some 1x2s and some plastic garden fence. check it out

NSW that was fucking awesome. Also a a thanks to Natmoon, I love the air bucket idea, it makes so much sense. I've thought about going hydro, but it always seems like more work, and I've had great results with soil. This seems like a great way to really maximize the soil output. Now NSW a question for you. I topped all my plants but one in my last grow, it seemed to make sense, but how exactly do you FIM? It seems like that must be how you got yours to have so many seperate stalks from the main stem. I understand the principle of fimming, but when I have tryed it I usually just get a topped plant and 2 stems, not multiple stmes. Any good suggestions? I've wanted to do a scrog set up it seems to make so much sense, but when I do I really want to be able to get multiple stems per plant like yours had!

Also I checked out the link to the air buckets, but it didn't seem to have a great explanation of how to build them. I was wondering if either you or natmoon, might bewilling to educate us on the art of the air bucket. I think other soil growers, will also appreciate such a break down, on such a great idea!

I find it takes less time if I let the branches grow out under the screen instead of topping always. I let them poke thru and grow up like a foot then I bend them under. Way faster I find

One thing I wanna know is how did you make it grow with so many main stems? They start all the way at the bottom so it aint topping or fimming? Please explain?

I would also like a further explantion of this. I beleive that this is what real fimming looks like, one or two early fim cuts, would inturn produce many new stalks like that. BUT what I wanna know is HOW TO DO IT!!!! Where do you have to cut to get those results?

nowstopwhining

Too many brownies
To get the results I got you have to fim the plant when it is only a few inches tall, and has about 4 nodes. Good luck its not too difficult. :-P:leaf::peace:
