alright guys I'm thinking of growing 4 plants in this size space under a 600w hps in four 11litre buckets do you think i be ok for height as from the top of the buckets to the light i got around 5ft in height. the seeds i picked are big bud x white widow as what i read they quite short plants. I'm thinking of growing in coco. and watering by hand. i know its like asking how long is a bit of string but any idea what type of yield to expect. or people with a bit of experience how much yield would you be happy with. and expect in a set up like this. many thanks for any reply's Bertie

Around 20 oz if everything goes pretty well, that would be around 1GPW.

Is your 600w air cooled?

I wouldn’t recommend hand watering coco. It can be done but coco prefers multiple feeds per day so a small reservoir with a submersible pump on a timer will be much easier.

thanks for the reply also bob i did a grow years back but only in soil. so i guess you can call this my first grow I'm also wondering as its going to be my first time in coco how long i should veg for in 11 litre buckets before putting them into flower. my seeds are on they way so thank god i dont have to hurry things. i want to get things perfect. i got a 300w cfl to bring the seeds on.

It will allow you to keep the light a bit closer to the canopy and will make cooling the tent much easier.

... in four 11 litre buckets ...
My first grow was in 12L pots I could see the roots were coming back up to the surface of the soil. They don't grow at their peak if the roots are returning to the surface. I think you will be impacted in the same manner should you use 11L pots.

May I suggest that you bump those up to the 20L (5 U.S. gallon) buckets and avoid that possibility. Bigger roots = bigger fruits.

You can grow monsters in 3 gallons of Coco. 5 gallons is a waste IMO, maybe in soil but not coco. Multiple feeds per day is key.

thank you NukaKola i got a small pump. my idea now that you say the key to coco is multiple feeds a day is to buy an extra bucket say 20 litre and use that as a small bowser to mix my water and nutrients in. at the side of the tent run some thin pipe off the pump around the 4 pots and maybe put some dripper pegs in the pipeing and drip feed the plants a few times a day when the bowser empty's. or do you think i be better off watering by hand for say the first month maybe five weeks. then putting them on a dripper system when the roots spread a bit. thing is I've not grown in years and then that was only in soil so in coco I've read the roots spread a lot quicker. so I'm not sure how long to veg for in the buckets before putting them into flower.

I don’t use drip emitters as they clog easily from salts/minerals.

I connect an adjustable flow manifold to the submersible pump with PVC and run 1/4 micro tubing from the manifold straight to the plants and add a barbed T at the end just to spread the water a bit more evenly.

I turn on the pump and time how long it takes to get 10-20% runoff and program my timer accordingly.

If you just planted seeds or transplanted you can hand water for a while. You can tell when your roots are established and the plant wants to drink more than once a day.

The adjustable flow manifolds are nice since you can adjust the output to each individual plant. I also run an air pump to my res for more dissolved oxygen.
