45'x35'- first room

Current space is empty room, 35’x45’ with 9 ft ceiling
walls are cinder blocks, floor half dirt, electrical 50amp
thinking radiant, geothermal, 400 amp. insulating from the outside

2 flower rooms, 17x35
1 clone/mother, 12x11
entrance, utility room 10x20

this is for state approved CBD grow. ideally when THC gets approval we can switch over

50 amp will not even be enough to power the hvac

already schedule for 400 amp upgrade. bidding on generators around 800amp
dont think 400 is enough, planning on doing flower rooms on alternate.

have free heat for winter, planning on geothermal at 55F for summer

Generator needs to be sized to match the service. If the generator is larger then you will have to upgrade to 800 amp service to hook up the gen set.

really? thats going to be problem. Ive seen sub panals powered by smaller generator and figured you could wire it for the capacity but not utilize. figured i could pull 100-1000amp from pole so why would generator be any different.

wet stacking becomes and issue but I lose power often, dont know how to avoid losing a crop.

Generator can be smaller than the the service disconnect breaker (main breaker) but not larger.

A 800 amp generator can be wired to two 400 amp disconnects, if don'e properly with taps thats code compliant.

Thanks for the info. i dont know much about electricity but the rep im in contact with from utility says that they service and power supplied by generator doesnt have to be at that amps at pole service, just parts rated at service points. he said it could be more complicated if i were selling back to grid but im looking for backup when they are down and providing enough for no interruption. thanks

thing is you cant install an 800 amp generator on a 400 amp disconnect. So if the service disconnect is 400 amps then your generator would be too large. I suppose that a 800 AMP disconnect could be installed but the transfer switch would have to also be rated 800 amps. Your electrician will figure it out for you. lol I stopped doing electrical work many years ago. I just remember if we installed a 104 amp generator and the place had a 100 amp service we had to upgrade their service to 150 amps or 200 amps so it wouldn't be smaller than the generator output.

fingers cross renfro, picked up 135kw at auction for a few bucks, ill probably have to sell but should cover cost of something sized correctly.

At 240 volts that 135kW gen set should mate up to a 600 amp service nicely.
