400Watt Metal Halide and LED

Just started my grow.

I’m vegging under a 400watt metal halide right now. I’m thinking about using the MH to flower and then getting an LED for vegging instead.

My tent is just under 3 feet by 3 feet and 5 feet tall.

Can I flower with the metal halide?

Yes you can. People usually go with the HPS for the spectrum but you can flower with a MH if you have nothing else. With a bluer spectrum in flower, you may get smaller bud but still potent.

Cause I own a 400watt MH and I plan to get an led but want a lower watt led just for veg and use my big boy for the flowering stage. Ballast is only for MH so I can’t grab a HPS.

That's really lame it's not convertible to HPS.

I don’t think it is. It’s a magnetic ballast. And doesn’t say anything abjure Hps.

Is there a way to tell? When I look where my bulb screws in it has a sticker that says max wattage 1000. And then on the ballast there is a sticker that only has MH checked. I assume that means I can only run a MH correct?
