Towels and peat pucks = bad move. Germinate directly in soil in a pot at least 6" tall.I germinated all of them using the paper towel method.
I put the dome under a 125watt CF bulb in reflector, under 24hour light. 3 died a few days into it. I feed them with plain water the first 10 days or so. Then I transfer into a soil mixture of 60% soil and 40% perlite, into beer cups. I water with 1/4 strength nutes at this point. I leave the beer cups in the dome for another week or so. I also have a clone of bubblegum kush and skunk #1 I bought from a local dispensary.
At this point I transfered the babies into the 3 gal pots. I water every 2 or 3 days giving each plant 6-8oz of water with 1/2 strength nutes.
So what's the NPK values?I am using Cutting edge nutrients..This is what the owner of my local hydro shop suggested. I used it on my last grow and got the best results I have ever gotton.
And what if the plant doesn't need full strength or needs more salts? You apply plant food according to plant needs, not some regiment someone gave you. He is not the master of your garden and does not have a clue.Basically use 1/4 strength nutes the first week, 1/2 strength the 2nd week, then full strength the 3rd week.
Plants are dynamic. If you don't understand nutrients and what makes a plant tick, those charts are useless. They are a crutch to the noob, an aide to the vendor to increase sales and dependency.Here is an example grow chart of what i use.
WEEK 1 Grow (seedlings/clones)
Grow - 1/4 tsp/gal
micro- 1/4 tsp/gal
plant amp - 1/4 tsp/gal
I doubt it the plants were acclimated to such light unless the CFL's were right on them. If they start turning yellow, you've got problems.Today I took out the CF bulbs and put the 400 watt HPS in. I have it hanging about 18" from the tops of the plants. I have the light on a timer set 12 hours on, and 12 hours off.
Nice.![]()
So for veg they are basically seeing a 4-.5-3. Kinda light but if it sustains growth, you do what you have to do.Thanks for the advice, thats the most anybody has responded! ha ha.
The NPK values are:
Grow = 2-1-6
Micro = 6-0-0
Bloom = 0-6-5
uncle jons blend = 0-0-2
plant amp =1% Ca
Learn to read your plants, not charts.Thanks for the advice man. What do u think about the flowering cycle? Should i increase the nutes a little too?![]()
Using leaf color, vigor, structure as a gauge. Comes with experience.Well, I hope I don't sound too dumb, but how exactly do I read my plants?
Not necessarily. Most times it's because the root system is the pits (small, unhealthy). If you don't have a robust root system, then you don't have a potential for proper water uptake which will be reflected by droopy leaves. That's one read down.....10 to go.all I know is when the leaves start to droop, they need water.
Or, could be too much salts in solution. See my sig link. If you give your plants a well balanced food with all of the 16 essential elements, they will be fine. A one-in-all, value priced, high quality product is Dyna-Gro.But I'm not sure about what nutes to add more of, or use less of. For example, if the leaves are curling like taco shells, it could be too much calcium or whatever, so use less calcium in my nute mixture.
Your welcome.This is what I have a hard time understanding. I've looked on all blogs here but they all just say the same thing, learn to read what your plants need, or keep researching this site. If it's too hard to explain, it's cool I understand. But I really do appreciate the comments u have left so far. Thanks again.
Lack of N, improper lighting, watering, fertilizers....take your pick.What causes stunted growth? Was it because I had shitty lights to veg with, or maybe cuz I transplanted them from outside and inmediatley threw them into 12/12?( the new females)
Salts are salts. You really need to do some homework regarding plant nutrition. Brand of nutes doesn't matter as long as they are of high quality and your plants are getting the 16 essential elements.I was looking at that Dyna-gro brand, it really is inexpensive. I'm almost out of nutes, I was wondering, can I buy the dyno-gro nutes and finish my plants with that? Or should I stick to the same nutes the entire grow?
Take a look at the specs at the Dyna-Gro site.Also, if I do use the Dyno-gro, do I need any other nutes to mix with it, or is the dyno-gro(bloom) all I need? ( since now I'm in 12/12)
thanks, e-dog
