Hey all. I just setup my new room, its 2'6" x 4'6" x 6'0"H. It's a great upgrade from the stealth cabs and mini closets I have had before (a stealth cab is now a seedling, clone and mother room). I have my old 400w light in a 6" cool tube. The cool tube has a 6" fan and about 8' of ducting but I used solid duct so it flows great. I have another 4" canfan on a filter. Without the 4" fan running at all I top out at 82 degrees 12h uninterrupted. I have another cool tube available, should i squeeze it in adding another 400w or 600w or should i just upgrade my one light to a 600w or 1000w?

Thanks, J

in a 2.5 x 4.5 x 6 area

a 1000 w would be completely over kill ...........u would get white tips

at most u could go a 600w

personally i would tell u to get a 4x4x6 tent or even a 6x6x6 tent then buy a 1000w system

Ah, It seems I'm always at the mercy of the room size. Although I do I like overkill, unless it overkills the plants.

I vote 1000
That's a bit longer space than what I use a 600 in now. mines 3.5'
I'm bout to get a 1000 for that space....

i can work but it is a balance game ...........u will need to keep on top of the height plant grows u move those lights up and to combate the heat u need to double your exhust fan speed

your area is fairly low cfm needed if u grab a 6 inch inline fan(not the booster) use one of those fan varible speed controllers lower it some u should be fine

i like over kill too i have a tent with 2 600 watts and one tent getting a 1000 w both are 4x4x6 .....mahahahahahahaha with it being winter it nice to open up the doors and get a dose of bright light while being warm

here to help u
get this one (timer remote and can use dual arcs) it can be set for 400w 600w or a 1000w so the bulbs u have now will work and when u can upgrade them depending on the plants reaction to the lvl of light u can change the bulbs

a dual arc bulb is a 1000w with a 400w MH and a 600w HPS all in the same bulb cost alot but 115k lumens best for autos

Thanks man, that is one amazing ballast built in timer is such a good idea!! I have a good 400 cfm 6" fan on speed control. I'm also making an insulated box for it so it will be able to run full tilt quietly.

Qwiz, I'd love to know how much the 1000w increases your temps.

my current set up is
2 600 watts with 400 cfm fan with 5 90 degree bends in the ducting ...........my room air is about 70 /73 the exhust point my temp reads 82/87

but i am also pumping the exhust air from the second tent into the top of the frist to use as ejection

I'd go with two 400's.

You have limited height, you can't get a decent distance from canopy with 1000w. Plus, there's no need for that kind of concentrated penetration, since you have limited height.

Two 400's with plants trained to keep them short and to keep the canopy even would be the most efficient. You'll have less heat problems, you'll be able to get the light very close to the canopy, maximize the height potential of your plants (you could grow them 3.5 feet tall vs 2.5 with a 1000w), it'll cost less electricity and you'll get perfect coverage absolutely everywhere in the tent. I think you'd even get a higher yield with the 400's than with a 1000 watter. The 400's are more efficient per watt.
