400w hps vs 1000w hps... Which do you prefer ?

So I'm finally about to start the indoor garden... I plan on doing SOG and the number of plants each harvest is still a mystery.... But I hope to harvest anywhere from 6-8 small-medium sized ladies every 3 weeks....

My question is which light set up would you go with?

If I went with the 400w i would definitely get 2 of them... if I went with the 1000w i would only have the one.... I feel like even though the 400w only put out 55,000 lumen each, itll still be better to have 2 lights to spread out over the top canopy of the plants rather than one bright light in the middle of it all.... Although the 1000w does put out 130,000 lumen so it is putting more light out...... I just need an opinion with someone with more experience. any help?

Get a raptor hood for the 1000 watt and you will have better coverage than two or hell even three 400 watters.....

Actually come to think of it... what if I just threw that 1000w set up with the cool tube onto a light mover??? With the light moving back and forth on that track it should be able to give enough light?

i don't know anyone who uses a light mover. however, there are a few things that you need to keep in mind when setting up your room. you are trying to create what God has already provided outside. so, on the subject of light, you are trying to recreate the SUN. artificial light degrades really fast (i don't understand the math but the equation is it degrades with the square of the distance). the example presented is that a plant 4 feet from the source receives 14 time less light than a plant 1 foot from the source. with that in mind, the brighter the light, the better. also, if you are going to have roughly 18-25 plants in flower at a time, you can certainly get adequate light to all of them with 1 1000w lamp if they are small enough (12-18 inches at time of 12/12 flip in no larger than 1-1.5 gal container). so the answer to your question is...no light mover just 1000w over small plants (a raptor hood would give you more light dispersion as would magnum xxxl and a couple others, i personally lean to the raptor or radiant series, also with a digital ballast instead of magnetic). good luck, bro. happy growing.
