400w Hps SoG

If you had a 400w Hps lamp and the space to do what you want, what would your SoG setup be? A strain has yet to be decided on because setup and design is more important at the moment. Also I understand that their may be threads on this topic, so while I still search if you can think of one, just post a thread that you think can help.thanks

I mean, it depends on you. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that the light footprint of a 400w is like 3'x3' or 4'x4', I forget.

But either way, the amount of plants you can fit under your lights footprint depends on pot size, veg length, if your running 12/12 from seed, strain, if your doing any kind of training, and what your overall goal is.

If you want an O per plant, your gunna wanna plan for fewer plants vegged longer. if you want the least amount of time seed to harvest, I'd say run a 12/12 from seed. It all depends.

But if your just looking to experiment with sog for the first time, I'd say do 1 plant per sq ft, in 2-3 gallon buckets, give your girls a good two weeks of veg before switching to 12/12 and you should get a good 14ish(+or-) grams per plant with a relatively short grow cycle (seed to harvest I'd say 80-90 days)

thanks for your input. I was just looking for different scenarios and variables and you definitely provided me with one to toy around with.

I'd go 4x4 tent with a 3x3 ebb and flow tray
9 plants (rooted clones in rockwool cubes)
In 6 inch net pots with hydroton.
Vegging for about a week mabey 10 days
Or do 16 veg for a few days.

Either way you will hit right around a pound but 16 might get crowded in a 3x3

SoG is so 90's...
Scrog is the new norm... Same concept, but add some screen/fence/trellis fill it in 75% w/ veg, then flip the lights to 12's, for heavy yielders add a 2nd screen/trellis a bit above the canopy, to support the buds when they get all big n heavy

If you are feeling real froggy can build a vert setup n make the most out of the bulbs footprint, I just don't know how well it'd work with only 400w, id still scrog it

Thank you guys for your input. Really given me something to think about. I'm still taking all suggestions. I Guess Scrog could work. I would like something perpetual so it can happen. Im Just looking for the best way to maximize my light and space Until an upgrade is available.Just found out has a 1kw hps for me so i'm gonna hold off until that arrives next week. Now i'm tryna come up with a setup for the 400w and 1000w. Space is not an issue. neither is ventilation or smell. However am trying to be frugal atleast through the first run. Any Ideas Or threads to direct me too. I will be searching as well.

SCROG in a fridge...?

I actually was checking out a fridge setup last night and im definitely keeping it in mind. But now I'm trying to figure out the best setup and design using a 1000w and 400w.

There is a 400W HPS up above, that is my supplemental UVB bulb.

Actually The fridge setup I was looking at was yours! Man you must be a jack of all trades...lol... I am actually leaning to your setups. Do you have any tips that aren't posted in your thread?

Im running two leds but i would run a 400 the same way probably, 8 to 12 plants in a 2x4 ebb n flow system.

Okay guys. Built a 3x3x4H tent. Have four 5 gallon buckets outfitting for for dwc and one 400w HPS. I need some assistance now on the best way to get the four buckets connected together and have them connected to a reservoir.The main issue I see wight now is height. DO you guys think I should adjust the height to about 5-5.5 ft. The light I have doesn't have a huge reflector on it but it soes have one. Also, the buckets are the standard size home depot 5 gallon buckets. Thanks for all advice. I'm going to run full test grow and add a flower tent b4 the next one is ready.Thanx again!
