400w Grow Tent Up and Running

I have 5 seedlings I am going to be flipping in the next week or so. Just wanted to make sure everything is where it should be before I swap out the T5 for the HID.

So after thinking long and hard how I want to set up my 40"x40"x70" tent, wanted to see if this was a reasonable setup with a 400w hps.

Have my carbon filter attached to my 6" inline fan. Can I hook that right up to my hood then have the ducting on the other side of the hood and vent outside the tent? It's only a 400w hps in a relatively large tent, so I didn't want to have to buy yet another fan to cool the hood if I didn't have to.

So it will be my carbon filter, inline fan sucking through the filter, into my hood, out the hood with ducting and vented into the room. It's a big room in a part of the house that stays cool so I'll just be using passive intake. I'm going to try a test run in a few days, but I wanted to check with some of you indoor pro's first.

Lineup is:
G13 - Pineapple Express
Emerald Triangle - Mastadon Kush
Emerald Triangle Super Sour OG
Emerald Triangle - Grapefruit Krush
Kannabia - Big Band

Thanks hope so. I wanted to get the 600w instead but heat issues are like my boogie man so I went with a 400w instead.

Im getting a 3x3 for my 400 nd I got a 6 inch on the way. As long as cool air can enter you should be fine.

putting it in my 4x5 closet the closet has its own window. Should be sweet once setup I put a 10k btu ac in it. I'm gonna watch the temps and maybe put the ac on a timer

going to bed ill be up in the am

Well I just went ti hang everything and noticed I don't have enough width to mount them all together. So much for that idea. Looks like I am going to have to mount separate and hope it sucks enough air through the filter to keep it cool on a lower speed. Had to pick up a speed controller because it was way too loud running full blast. The fan is a 6" inline and is rated at something like 440cfm. Think it is a bit overkill but rather have too much than not enough.

yeah i agree. my fan was 400 something cfm and it sounded like a jet engine about to take off when full... this new one i got im gonna dial down to about half.. ive seen people get away with using 4 inch fans which are 200 cfm on a 400w and it was fine so im gonna try it

Just set the filter and fan outside the tent and push air through it. Then you have the room in the tent to let your plants grow out

I'd love to do that but it's recommended that you suck into a carbon filter, not push

My last grow was pineapple express. She grows really fast. Pulled just a tad over 6.5 oz off her. Great smoke, good luck.

Yeah this is my 2nd time with PE and you are right she does grows fast. It's the biggest plant of the group both times now. Think I am going to top it in about a week.
